On December 4, the Tunisian Interior Ministry said in a statement published on its Facebook page that it had “arrested two takfiris” who were plotting to carry out two suicide attacks. The statement said that one of the attacks “was planned to take place at the Habib Bourguiba Street” in the centre of the capital Tunis. It added that the two arrested would-be “suicide attackers” were recruited by “fugitive terrorist Walid Yousfi”, who is accused of being involved in the attack on a Presidential Guard bus in Tunis on 24 November.
The more regular use of the term takfiri is interesting, given its association with the “Resistance Axis” of Iran, Hezbollah, Syria and others, more identified with (the problematic term of a) “Shiite discourse.”
