Coolie (Hindi: कुली, ’Porter’) is a 1983 Indian Bollywood action comedy film, directed by Manmohan Desai and written by Kader Khan. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan as Iqbal, a railway coolie, with supporting roles played by Rishi Kapoor, Rati Agnihotri, Kader Khan, Waheeda Rehman, Suresh Oberoi and Puneet Issar.
The film made over Rs. 10 million per territory, a rare achievement for the time.
The film is notorious for a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar, during which Amitabh Bachchan was near-fatally injured due to a mistimed jump.

There was a real fiasco happening around Coolie. Amitabh Bachchan had managed to coax Puneet Issar into employing his bulked up muscles to punch him real hard. Well, the attempted bravado to record a real-as-hell fight backfired as Amitabh spent months in a hospital recuperating. Amazingly, the accident’s headlines made international news. The film was an angry-youngman story with the highlight being Amitabh taking on dozens of goons. Interestingly, Amitabh reportedly got liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis infected blood transfused to him during his treatment.
