t was opened by the Queen. She didn’t say what she thought about the giant spider in the entrance hall, or the fact that spider had been made by a woman who was 15 years older than her. She didn’t ask how an 80-year-old could make a bronze spider that was 30ft high. When the Queen opened Tate Modern, in 2000, she didn’t say what she thought of the art.
