While the final results are yet to arrive, conservative candidate François Fillon and radical-left Jean-Luc Mélenchon were given neck and neck positions in third and fourth place respectively, separated by a fractional percentage. Socialist Party candidate Benoît Hamon is given fifth place with just more than 6% of the vote, a historically low figure for his party.
