Don’t panic! The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is back | The Guardian
▻https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2018/feb/27/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy-bbc-radio-4
In 1985, #Douglas_Adams said the #BBC’s view of the first series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was like Macbeth’s attitude to murder: “Initial doubts, followed by cautious enthusiasm, then greater and greater alarm at the sheer scale of the undertaking.” Those days are, however, long gone and the BBC is marking the 40th anniversary of Adams’ ground-breaking creation in style.
The original cast has been reunited to record a new radio series of the intergalactic comedy that, from small beginnings in 1978 on Radio 4, grew into a juggernaut that spawned a TV series, a Disney film, a much-loved series of books, several stage shows and even a video game.
What makes the performance all the more poignant is that they are playing a scene written by Adams but never previously recorded. The new series combines unpublished material, dug out of Adams’ notebooks by archivist and superfan Kevin Jon Davies, and newer plotlines drawn from And Another Thing, Eoin Colfer’s book continuing the saga, which was commissioned by the Adams estate after the author’s sudden death at the age of just 49 in 2001.
The 40th-anniversary series starts on BBC Radio 4 on 8 March.

Carrie Gracie: fearless leader of battle for equal pay at the BBC | Media | The Guardian
▻https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/jan/14/carrie-gracie-fearless-leader-of-battle-for-equal-pay-at-bbc
At the height of the expenses scandal in 2009, a little-known BBC news presenter made the headlines by revealing her £92,000-a-year salary on air and getting into a public spat. Carrie Gracie told a Labour peer that, unlike the MPs charging for “chandeliers and manure”, she never even claimed for telephone calls “because I understand what public service is about”.
Gracie returned to the headlines last week when she resigned as China editor and accused her employer of illegal pay discrimination. A dispute simmering since last summer, when publication of BBC pay scales first revealed how few of the best-paid stars were women, boiled over and led to days of outrage and mockery over the BBC and its treatment of women.

A propos de la guerre d’information
THE BBC BAMBOOZLE
The Madaya media circus lumbers on regardless of the multitude of proven anomalies and outright deceit of the mainstream narrative. Deaf to either public opinion or investigation, institutions like the BBC consider they are above accountability to those who pay for their existence, the British public. They consider it perfectly acceptable to release footage from Yarmouk 2014 and represent it as Madaya 2016..and when questioned, to remove the offending footage without explanation or responsibility for their obscurantism and misinformation tactics.
Thankfully, Robert Stuart, ardent campaigner against the BBC’s long running, hostile, anti Syria propaganda offensive did raise an official complaint and demanded answers that the BBC has, for too long, been allowed to avoid answering.
Al Mayadeen, Al Manar, Al Masirah TV channels and many others, representing the voices of the oppressed in the Middle East are being systematically excluded from Saudi funded Satellite channels and Israeli biased social media. Press TV, headquarters in Tehran, had its licence revoked by Ofcom in 2012
RT has come under relentless attack by the BBC since the “Kremlin launched its international media operation”. The BBC lexicon never fails to maintain and celebrate the “cold war” terminology or to keep fear of the Russian “indoctrination” stewing in peoples minds.
“But it [RT] is also coming under increased scrutiny over its lack of editorial balance and accusations that it is deliberately using disinformation to counter and divide the West.” ~ Russia’s Global Media Operation Under the Spotlight
This astounding display of projectionism can only be matched by the Zionist ability to turn their own crimes against Humanity into a neatly packaged accusation that those they are oppressing, the Palestinians, on whose broken bones Israel has built its settlements, are the guilty and that Israel is exempt from judgement for its crimes which are committed in “self defence”.
Is the BBC embellishing the truth in “self-defence” or is it being creative with the truth in defence of our Government’s appalling neo-colonialist foreign policy which is ensuring the fomenting of sectarian divide in the Middle East to facilitate desired “regime change” in Syria & the wholesale slaughter of civilians in Yemen, obliterated by made-in-UK missiles and weapons of mass destruction.
These are just two examples of the BBC collusion in global de-stabilization and reduction of sovereign nations to perpetual conflict or “failed state” status, ripe for economic and pseudo “humanitarian” NGO complex, stealth invasion and occupation and of course the bolstering of the Military Industrial Complex profitability index.

Millions of pounds of British aid money have been spent trying to bring security to Syria and to protect the UK from terrorism. But whistleblowers say our development efforts have been undermined by mismanagement, waste and corruption.
Using hundreds of leaked documents, reporter Jane Corbin pieces together the shocking truth about one of the government’s flagship foreign aid projects. She discovers how some of the cash has ended up in the hands of extremists and how an organisation we are funding has been involved in executions and torture.

Government suspends support for foreign aid project in Syria over claims cash is being diverted to extremists
▻http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/04/government-suspends-support-foreign-aid-project-syria-claims
British foreign aid money has been used fund a police force whose officers stood by and watched a woman get stoned to death and handed cash to extremists, it has been alleged as the Government suspends the project.
The Free Syrian Police (FSP), a flagship UK-backed scheme, is said to have had officers handpicked by a branch of #al-Qaeda and handed over cash in a protection racket to Nour al-Din al-Zinki, the extremist group in control of the Allepo.
Dead or fictitious officers have also been discovered on the payroll of the force, which was intended to bring law and order to parts of the country that were controlled by opponents of the Assad regime.
Following the claims by BBC Panorama to be aired this evening (MON) the government suspended all aid to the £12m project, which was first set up five years ago.
La tension monte autour de France Télévisions
▻http://abonnes.lemonde.fr/actualite-medias/article/2017/10/26/la-tension-monte-autour-de-france-televisions_5206205_3236.html

The #BBC is neither independent or impartial: interview with Tom Mills
▻https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourbeeb/ian-sinclair-tom-mills/bbc-is-neither-independent-or-impartial-interview-with-tom-mills
Ian Sinclair: In an interview with the Press Gazette after she was recently named Journalist of the Year at the British Journalism Awards, Laura Kuenssberg, the BBC’s Political Editor, said ‘Among the many jewels and gifts that the BBC has is our editorial independence’. She went on to argue ‘I would die in a ditch for the impartiality of the BBC. That’s what we do.’ Is the BBC independent and impartial?
Tom Mills: The simple answer is ‘no’. But the question isn’t quite as straightforward as it sounds. First it is important to state from the outset what is rarely acknowledged in discussions about the BBC: that it isn’t independent from governments, let alone from the broader Establishment. The BBC has always been formally accountable to ministers for its operations. Governments set the terms under which it operates, they appoint its most senior figures, who in future will be directly involved in day-to-day managerial decision making, and they set the level of the licence fee, which is the BBC’s major source of income. So that’s the context within which the BBC operates, and it hardly amounts to independence in any substantive sense.

A report filed from Pyongyang by the recently expelled journalist Rupert Wingfield-Hayes appears to have been removed from the BBC’s website.
The link to the report titled “North Korea: Searching for self-reliance and ‘real people’ in Pyongyang,” was previously active on May 9 but currently shows a 404-Error saying the article cannot be found. Several other reports filed by Hayes from Pyongyang remain active.
While the reasons for the piece’s removal are unknown, the BBC is refusing to comment.
NK News inquired with the BBC to see when and why the link was taken down but the BBC said that it will not be commenting on the issue.
« Quand la radio trompe l’oreille. Petite #histoire des #faux-semblants_radiophoniques, épisode 1 : les années 1920. »

Writing ’River’ for BBC One
River is also about living in a city where very few people are actually from London. London does two things for me; it makes me feel connected and it also makes me feel very isolated and quite lonely at times, and that’s someone with two children in their family. I always think about that title London Kills Me, and how London is the best of the world and it’s the worst of the world, so I wanted to write a character who was navigating their way through that.

Jeremy Corbyn’s team send a complaint to the #BBC over its ’hatchet job’ Panorama programme
▻http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyns-team-send-complaint-to-bbc-over-its-hatchet-job-panora
His campaign team said they have sent a copy of Mr Corbyn’s diary to prove he did not attend a conference in Cairo that advocated attacks on British and American troops, as was stated by the programme’s presenter, John Ware.
The diary proves he attended events in his Islington constituency, his campaign claims. However the BBC said they had yet to receive a copy of it.
The programme investigated the rise of Mr Corbyn and showed clips from a number of his rallies over the summer. It also included a number of warnings from high profile Blairite figures warning that a Corbyn victory could reignite the divisions of Labour’s past and bring back the “thuggery and intimidation” of the militant left.
It attracted hundreds of complaints from viewers who claimed it was biased against Mr Corbyn and who accused the BBC of trying to persuade undecided voters not to vote for him, less than three days before the deadline for voting closed.
