The #Columbia Scholarship Program for Displaced Persons

Columbia University has launched a scholarship program to support individuals who have been displaced as a result of the conflict in Syria. These students will receive full tuition, housing, travel, and living assistance while pursuing their undergraduate degree at Columbia University’s School of General Studies. Applicants must have been displaced by the conflict in Syria, and currently residing in Jordan, Lebanon, or Turkey, or residing under Temporary Protected Status in the US. Students will begin their studies in fall 2018.

Studenti universitari rifugiati, verso il progetto #Mentorship

Nelle università italiane coprirà un intero anno accademico, per una durata complessiva di 13 mesi, il progetto “Mentorship” di supporto youth to youth all’integrazione di studenti rifugiati.

Gestito dal dipartimento per le Libertà civili e l’immigrazione del Viminale e dall’OIM (Organizzazione internazionale per le migrazioni), l’iniziativa «punta a fornire agli studenti universitari italiani le competenze per accompagnare i colleghi titolari di protezione internazionale nel loro percorso di inserimento universitario e per supportarli in quello di integrazione sociale e culturale grazie a borse di studio finanziate dal ministero dell’Interno nell’ambito di intese con la CRUI (Conferenza dei rettori delle università italiane) e la Pontificia Università lateranense».

Per ora il progetto “Mentorship” è alla fase di un accordo di collaborazione, firmato nei giorni scorsi a Roma dal direttore centrale per le Politiche dell’immigrazione e dell’asilo e dal direttore dell’ufficio di coordinamento dell’OIM per il Mediterraneo.
