Observatory of Symbolic Violence. Exploratory Mission Colombia
Symbolic Violence is at the same time a root cause of conflict and an impact of it. It can lead to discrimina- tion and exclusion and to the use of physical violence. Understanding, monitoring, reducing and preventing symbolic violence is there- fore a key issue for sustain- able peace building. PRO- TECTION, ADVOCACY and CAPACITY BUILD- ING are our main aims.
n Colombia, all spaceshave been affected by dif-ferent forms of violenceduring decades of conflict.Our observatory will betargeting in particular ruralareas, affected by displace-ment of population, pres-ence of fighting groups,forced changes of lifestylesand an overall stigmatisa-tion of different popula-tions.
