Le Pro­gramme ali­men­taire mon­dial de l’ONU compte géné­ra­li­ser son nou­veau sys­tème de paie­ment s’appuyant sur la tech­no­lo­gie blo­ck­chain. Celui-ci per­met notam­ment de réduire consi­dé­ra­ble­ment le mon­tant des frais de tran­sac­tion, en s’affranchissant du sys­tème ban­caire tra­di­tion­nel.

En janvier 2017, le Programme alimentaire mondial (#PAM) a mis en place avec succès son expérimentation « #Building_Blocks ». Celle-ci consistait à transférer des fonds destinés à aider des familles désœuvrées du Pakistan sur une blockchain #Ethereum publique, grâce à une application mobile.

« La technologie blockchain, plus connue pour être associée à la crypto-monnaie Bitcoin, offre des opportunités uniques pour les agences humanitaires, et peut les aider à offrir à travers le monde la meilleure aide possible aux personnes fragiles », avaient alors déclaré les organisateurs du PAM.

En l’espace de quelques mois, le PAM avait lancé un programme pilote pour venir en aide aux #réfugiés du #camp_d’Azraq, qui avaient fui la guerre civile syrienne. Celui-ci lui avait offert la possibilité de secourir plus de 10 000 réfugiés syriens grâce à une plateforme de paiements basés sur la blockchain blockchain.

Ce programme avait permis d’économiser 150 000 dollars par mois en réduisant de 98% les frais de transaction, d’après des informations rapportées par Bernhard Kowatsch, le directeur de l’innovation du World Food Programme à Munich.

This seems to be an #industry where we don’t focus. Peter Bengtsson said to me the other day these wise words: “Our professional lives isn’t about #building things. It’s about worrying about not building things with certain #tools”.

I’m not keeping up with all the new libraries, tools and things springing up all over the place. I never will be, this industry is growing and moving faster than anyone can keep with and it’s accelerating in size and scope every day. Its awesome its improving so fast. If you don’t get comfortable with this happening you are on a road to burn out.
