Lemmabuntüs est une version allégée d’Emmabuntüs, basée sur le bureau LXDE. Au démarrage du live CD, le mode Vesa n’est pas proposé en option. Ceux qui ont des problèmes de carte graphique pourront néanmoins forcer le démarrage dans ce mode en suivant la procédure indiquée dans le test de la distribution Lubuntu.
L’installation peut se faire à partir du système d’exploitation démarré en live CD. Elle est assez facile à effectuer.
On se retrouve au démarrage avec un bureau envahi de liens en rapport avec l’association Emmaüs. Un message d’accueil apparaît, proposant d’effectuer diverses actions en soutien à l’association. On pourra détester ce prosélytisme et avoir le sentiment que cette distribution n’est pas destinée à tous publics mais aux personnes souhaitant promouvoir l’association Emmaüs.
Au 1er démarrage une boîte de dialogue nous propose l’installation des codecs et plugins non libres (tels flash player). Ainsi l’on aura plus facilement accès aux vidéos sur les sites Internet tels Youtube sans aucun paramétrage ou installation supplémentaire.
D’office le cairo-dock, qui permet d’avoir une barre de lancement d’applications avec effets visuels 3D, est installé. Il sera préférable de le désinstaller sur de très vielles configurations, car gourmand en ressources vidéo et donc susceptible de ralentir le PC.
Les autres partitions du disque dur sont montées automatiquement, ce qui facilitera l’usage aux personnes venant de Windows et sans expérience sur Linux.
Le son n’était pas audible au départ ; j’ai cru à un problème de configuration, mais en fait il s’agissait d’un simple problème d’activation par défaut d’une option de sourdine dans le réglage du volume sonore. Cela pourra perturber des utilisateurs novices en informatique.
Une première tentative de mise à jour du système me propose de ne l’effectuer que de façon partielle en raison de la non-disponibilité de certains paquets, ce que j’accepte, mais la mise à jour ne se fait pas. En fait il faut répondre non, décocher les paquets posant problème dans la liste, et lancer ensuite la mise à jour.
Après mise à jour le réseau local Windows est reconnu automatiquement et visible dans le gestionnaire de fichiers, PCManFM qui, rappelons-le, nécessite que l’on clique sur « Aller à », « Disques réseaux » pour faire apparaître les réseaux locaux.
En bureautique, c’est la suite Open office qui est installée par défaut. La francisation des menus système n’est pas parfaite. De nombreux logiciels sont installés d’emblée avec la distribution, notamment des applications éducatives.
A l’usage le système manque de fluidité sur mon très vieux PC de test, le dock Cairo y contribuant certainement.
Cette distribution étant basée sur Ubuntu, on disposera de la riche logithèque de cette dernière distribution et de ses nombreuses ressources sur Internet en cas de problème.
Temps de démarrage du système sur le PC de test : 46 s
Test d’occupation mémoire : Open Office Writer, Calc et visionnage d’une vidéo sur Youtube avec Firefox lancés en même temps donnent une occupation RAM d’environ 340 Mo.
La distribution est simple d’utilisation et le cahier des charges est respecté sans pratiquement aucun paramétrage ou installation complémentaire. Le système est toutefois assez gourmand en ressources et ne conviendra pas pour de très vieux PC. Dans ce cas, et si l’on souhaite une distribution proche, on lui préférera Lubuntu sur laquelle elle est basée. Egyptian police shot a student dead Saturday at Cairo’s Al-Azhar university after Islamist students set fire to their university, health ministry officials said.
