En suspendant les exportations de brut par le détroit stratégique de Bab el-Mandeb après une attaque de rebelles yéménites, l’Arabie saoudite espère susciter une intervention internationale dans le conflit oublié du Yémen, estiment des analystes.
La décision du premier exportateur mondial de pétrole est tombée mercredi à la suite d’une attaque qui a visé en mer Rouge deux supertankers transportant 4 millions de barils, selon Ryad, et un bâtiment de guerre saoudien, selon les rebelles Houthis.

Kuwait is mulling over whether to suspend oil shipments via the Bab el Mandeb strait in the Red Sea, a Kuwaiti oil official told Reuters on Thursday, after Saudi Arabia said it was suspending oil exports via the crucial chokepoint in the Middle East following an attack on two of its tankers by the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels.
“All options are possible but there is nothing confirmed so far,” Badr al-Khashti, chairman of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC), told Reuters today. Kuwait, a close ally of Saudi Arabia, has not made any decision yet on whether to halt oil exports via Bab el Mandeb, the official added.

Merci ça fait quelques semaines qu’on a le Koweit dans le viseur, les ventes d’armes françaises au Koweit sont passées de 100 millions à 1,1 milliard d’euros de 2016 à 2017. Se prépare-t-il là une intervention militaire intale qui vise à sortir Riyad et Abu Dhabi de l’enlisement au Yémen ?
