Unidentified forces attacked a U.N. aid vessel off the main Yemeni port of Hodeidah at the weekend and started a fire in the engine room, port authorities said on Monday.

The United Nations aid chief, Mark Lowcock, confirmed there had been an incident but said it was now over and everyone was safe, without elaborating.

The vessel used by the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) was attacked after delivering a shipment at Hodeidah, Yemen’s Red Sea Ports Corporation said. The port is held by the Iranian-aligned armed Houthi movement which has taken large parts of the country in a three-year-old war.

A WFP spokeswoman said an unidentified armed group “aboard a skiff had opened fire and attempted to take over” the vessel that was some 60 km (38 miles)) off the coast of Hodeidah.

“Both the crew and the vessel are safe, with no injuries or obvious damage to the vessel,” spokeswoman Bettina Luescher said in a statement sent to Reuters.

The ship was waiting in anchorage for permission to leave from a Saudi-led military coalition, the Ports Corporation added. The coalition is fighting the Houthis and controls the nearby Zubair island.

Yemen’s ports of #Hodeidah and #Saleef have been left in limbo following a UN order for commercial ships to leave.

A UN agency said it has suspended issuance of new clearances for all ships heading to Yemen and said the measure is “temporarily” until further notice, according to Xinhua.

This follows a Saudi-led military coalition’s pledge to close all transport avenues to stop the flow of arms to the Yemeni Houthi rebels from “Iran”, said Xinhua.

Xinhua reported that a notice issued by the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen (UNVIM), stated: “We regret to inform you that due to the current security situation in Yemen including Yemen Red Sea ports, all vessels must immediately leave holding area (west of 042), anchorage and berth (Saleef and Hodeidah ports) and sail to any other port/position to ensure safety of crew, vessel and cargo.”

Ports in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates’ barred ships flying Qatari flags after the two countries broke off diplomatic ties with Doha, in a move that raised fears of disruption to oil and gas shipments from the Gulf OPEC member.

The Saudi Ports Authority has notified shipping agents not to accept vessels flying Qatari flags or ships owned by Qatari companies or individuals, it said on its Twitter account on Monday, adding that Qatari goods would not be allowed to be unloaded in Saudi ports.

“Vessels flying the flag of Qatar or vessels destined to or arriving from Qatar ports are not allowed to call on the Port of Fujairah or Fujairah Offshore Anchorage regardless of the nature of their call until further notice,” authorities in Fujairah, an emirate in the UAE and regional bunkering hub, said in a notice seen by Reuters.

It was like walking into the junior high school cafeteria for the first time. I looked around, trying to see if there was someone I knew that I could sit next to. The room for “Alaska Forum 2015: A Summit on Shipping and Ports” (Aug. 23-25 in Anchorage) was so full there were people standing at the back. I wandered around to the side and sat in a lone empty chair, still looking.

In a room of hundreds of people all talking about shipping off the west coast of Alaska, I saw maybe two people that I knew represented tribal governments, both from the same village. It struck me that this critically important conversation about developing a massive shipping corridor on their front doorstep was happening without the tribes. People are talking about them and their homes but not to them.

Ne posant aucune question sur le fait que visiblement, entre le moment où un monstre sort de la faille et son arrivée à l’autre bout de l’océan Pacifique, visiblement il n’y a que 10 minutes quand bien même on voit que les bestiaux nagent assez lentement, nos héros et leur robot sont envoyés se positionner devant Anchorage. Sauf qu’ils ont repéré qu’un navire de pêche était encore en mer et sur la trajectoire de la bestiole, et malgré les ordres de leur supérieur, le marshal Pentecost, nos larrons décident de foncer secourir l’engin, parce que ce sont des têtes brûlées, tu vois, t’as vu.

Ah, oui, j’oubliais : le Pacifique est assez peu profond, puisqu’à part lors d’une séquence dans le film, les Jaegers auront toujours pied. Et pas qu’un peu, hein.

Que disais-je ? Ah oui. Les frères Becket vont à la rencontre des pêcheurs, mettent leur navire à l’abri à la seconde où le Kaiju arrivait sur eux, puis commencent à tabasser la bête qui est « le plus grand Kaiju rencontré jusqu’ici » (moi, je n’ai pas vu de différence avec les autres, mais je ne suis pas un expert), soit un Kaiju « de classe 3 ». Après quelques coups de poings dans la gueule, fourchettes et brûlures indiennes (ah, il faut ce qu’il faut), le monstre fait un peu moins son malin et accessoirement quelques bruits comme « Brüüülülü »), plus encore lorsque nos héros l’achèvent à coups de canon à plasma, l’une des armes équipant les bras de leur robot.

Ah tiens, vous aviez une arme à distance ? Mais vous préfériez commencer par le corps à corps ? C’est une idée. Très conne, hein, mais une idée tout de même. A une échelle plus normale, ce concept se traduirait ainsi :

« Tenez les mecs, voilà un fusil.
– Super, on va pouvoir mettre des coups de crosse avec ! Ouais ! »
