    http://imemc.org/article/israeli-air-force-fires-a-missile-into-northern-gaza

The Israeli Air Force fired, on Sunday at dawn, at least one missile into an area, north of Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, causing damage.

The missile caused damage to the targeted site, believed to be run by the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, causing damage to it, a few surrounding homes and property, and led to anxiety attacks among many children.

In a statement, the Israeli army said it targeted the Hamas position in response to incendiary kites, set by Palestinian protesters into lands across the border fence.

The army added that the latest attack had no relation with the Saturday explosion, which claimed the lives of six Palestinian fighters in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.

The six men killed in the explosion were identified as:

      1. Mahmoud Waleed al-Ostath , 34, from Deir al-Balah – Central Gaza.

      2. Wisam Ahmad Abu Mahrouq, 27, from Deir al-Balah – Central Gaza.

      3. Taher Issam Shahin, 29, from Deir al-Balah – Central Gaza.

      4. Mousa Ibrahim Salman , 30, from Deir al-Balah – Central Gaza.

      5. Mahmoud Mohammad at-Towashi, from Deir al-Balah – Central Gaza.

      6. Mahmoud Sa’id al-Qeeshawi, 29, from Gaza City.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, issued a preliminary statement saying that the six Palestinians were senior members of the group, and accused Israel of standing behind the explosion.

It added that the six Palestinians “managed to track and uncover one of the largest spy and surveillance systems planted by Israel is the coastal region, and that the located spying device was designed to automatically explode once it is uncovered.

The Brigades described the explosion a “serious, massive crime,” adding that the fighters sacrificed their lives in dismantling and uncovering this surveillance system.

It held Israel directly responsible for the death of its fighters, and added that “payback will be coming, and will be very painful to the enemy, for this crimes and many previous crimes.”

Gaza’s air, sea and borders are all controlled by the Israeli military occupation, which has implemented a deadly siege on the tiny coastal Strip since 2007 – preventing the entry of building materials, medical supplies, food and basic necessities, while preventing the exit of Palestinians from Gaza.

Since March 30th, Palestinian protesters have engaged in weekly demonstrations at the Gaza-Israel border. These demonstrations have been attacked by Israeli sharpshooters stationed at the border, who have killed 45 Palestinians and wounded more than 7,000 – many of whom were wounded with live ammunition fired by Israeli forces at the unarmed demonstrators.

    Killed in their sleep

“On 20 August 2014 at 4:45 AM, Israel attacked our home in Deir al-Balah whilst my family was fast asleep. My son and two stepsons were killed in the attack, as well as my nine-months pregnant daughter-in-law and her three children,” al-Louh says in a statement from Al-Haq, whose director Shawan Jabarin handed the file to Bensouda in The Hague.

The evidence addresses specific attacks on Palestinian homes, hospitals, schools and high-rise buildings.

It was submitted by Al-Haq, Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, Aldameer and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights under a provision of the court’s founding Rome Statute that permits the prosecutor to launch investigations on her own initiative on the basis of information she receives.

This can include evidence submitted by states, human rights organizations and international bodies.

Monday’s submission is the first of its kind, according to the Center for Constitutional Rights, whose attorney Katherine Gallagher accompanied the Palestinian delegation to the ICC.

If Bensouda’s preliminary analysis finds there is a “reasonable basis to proceed,” the prosecutor must seek permission from a panel of judges, known as a pre-trial chamber, to open a formal investigation.

Israel’s 51-day assault on Gaza beginning in early July 2014, left more than 2,200 Palestinians dead, including 551 children, according to the report of an independent UN inquiry published in June.

Israel injured thousands more, displaced hundreds of thousands of people and devastated large areas of Gaza.

That inquiry concluded that the death and destruction was the consequence of a “policy, approved at least tacitly by decision-makers at the highest levels of the Government of Israel.”

An Israeli airstrike on a car in the vicinity of the Palestine Stadium in central Gaza, meanwhile, left the driver dead. A Ma’an reporter in Gaza quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a fire broke out in the car after it was hit directly by an Israeli missile. The driver was killed instantly and a number of bystanders were injured.

Shortly before that, rescue teams recovered a dead body of a man from the rubble of Tallini family home in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Separately, an Israeli airstrike hit home of Nabhan family in the northern Gaza Strip injuring four.

Early Sunday, witnesses said that Israeli aircraft targeted a group of people near the Fayrouz Towers in northwestern Gaza City, killing two and injuring 10.

Palestinian Ministry of Health spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra identified the two casualties as Badr Hashim Abu Mnih and Yahya Abu al-Omareen , both in their twenties. They were taken to al-Shifa Hospital.

Israeli aircraft also struck the largest commercial center in the southern city of Rafah, completely leveling a building with dozens of shops, two weeks after an office in the same building was hit.

In western Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike hit the home of the al-Ghulayni family. No injuries were reported in the first strike, but a second strike that occurred soon after left six injured after it struck a crowd that gathered to survey the damage.

An Israeli airstrike also targeted a house in the al-Barka neighborhood of Deir al-Balah without warning, leaving a number injured, in addition to a home in the al-Maghazi refugee camp which was also destroyed. Another Palestinian was injured after an Israeli airstrike hit the Beit Lahiya sports club.

Israeli aircraft also launched dozens of air strikes on agricultural lands and open areas in different regions of the Gaza Strip.
