energy firms tied to the Energy Ministry sustained record losses in 2014, according to recently released 2014 activity reports from state firms.
The Electricity Generation Holding Company (EÜAŞ) brought in TL 2.3 billion in profits in 2013, but lost TL 2.5 billion last year, while the Turkish Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) reported losses of TL 587 million after having brought in TL 1.5 billion in profits during 2013.
The Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKİ) sustained TL 43 million in losses while the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises (TTK) reported a TL 580 million setback.
Reports indicated that the state firms were generally plagued by improper energy policies and the drawbacks of a pre-election economy. A number of major state-run energy firms have yet to release their reports.
