Starting from 1st October 2015, I do no longer permit the usage of my TREEFINDER software in the following EU countries: Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark - the countries that together host most of the non-european immigrants. For all other countries, the old license agreement remains valid. USA has already been excluded from using Treefinder in February 2015. This is all in accordance with the license agreement stated in the TREEFINDER manual since the earliest versions, which reserves me the right to change the license agreement at any time. I can do this because Treefinder is my own property.
The reason: I am no longer willing to support with my work the political system in Europe and Germany, of which the science system is part. There is no genuine democracy, and I disagree with almost all of the policies. In particular, I disagree with immigration policy. Immigration to my country harms me, it harms my family, it harms my people. Whoever invites or welcomes immigrants to Europe and Germany is my enemy. Immigration is the huge corporations’ interest, not peoples’ interest. I am not against helping refugees, but t hey would have to be kept strictly separated from us Europeans, for some limited time only until they return home, and not being integrated here as cheap workers and additional consumers. Immigration unnecessarily defers the collapse of capitalism, its final crisis. The earlier the system crashes, the more damage can be avoided. Possibly a civil war in Europe. Not to mention the loss of our European genetic and cultural heritage .

International solidarity! let’s break all these borders together!
After the brutal police attack on the Hungarian border (more details soon), most of the migrants yesterday from Horgoš (SRB-HUN border) continued towards Croatia (mostly Šid and Bezdan border crossing points). All kind of support is needed now on the borders! People are exhausted, they were struggling for their right to move, resisting repression days and nights without a rest. Now they have to face the same difficulties on the croatian border as well. Croatia closed today 7 border crossing places ( Tovarnik, Ilok, Ilok 2, Principovac, Principovac 2, Batina and Erdut). People try to enter in smaller groups bypassing the blockades. We call all people in the border zones to show solidarity and support people.
Till today morning around 14 000 people entered Croatia. The authorities transport people to refugee camps, but people want to continue and move on! Some groups already arrived to the slovenian border, they face repression from the slovenian border police.
Spread the idea of DIRECT SOLIDARITY with the people who are traveling/struggling.
Slovenia is trying to close it ‘s borders. Right now it seems to be closed but mass protests on the borders can create pressure! We should not forget that the people on the move now are very powerful, many of them survived the repression/violence in fascist Hungary and today in Tovarnik where for some time police held people in a guarded are to hold them back (they were waiting for 14 hours to continue) and the crowd of children, men and women was just destroyed
part of the fence or jumped the police chains after a while as a mass protest.
Updates from Slovenia
Latest info from activists who are on the cro- slo border ( 18.09. 1 AM): “They stopped international train to Munich and send back to croatia around 100 people, and others are send further in slovenia but we dont know where. all train traffic is stopped until morning.”
“Train from zagreb to austria with approx 150 migrants is
held in train station Dobova from 19:00.A lot of police (riot police and
dogs)is here,we are not allowed to talk with migrants. situation is calm
, we are all waiting.”
“Please tell everybody, especially to refugees to stick together, to go the
border in big big numbers, let us organize a camp on the border, bigger
one. Let ua make pressure to open the borders!
Small groups are taken by police and deported or detained in closed
detention center!
150 people that managed to enter Slovenia were brought to the
detention center in Postojna.
The international trains serbia- croatia-slovenia are stopped.
The slovenian police is present in Dubove with many special police
forces and dogs. In the village „Harmica“ at the croatian side of the border small groups
of migrants are arriving. Now there around 200 but it is hard to guess,
because they are not all in one place. People started to go towords and
along the river (Sutla river) that marks the border of cro/slov there,
up north. Croatian police there is only a few and very calm. Slovenian side seems
to be more of a problem for the people
“There will be a protest today at 18h on the Cro-Slo border (Rigonce crossing place), where people were stopped by force. Let’s make pressure from both sides of the border! “

Hi,
in Slovenia we are considering an option to organize caravan for open
borders which aim would be to prevent the closure of border with
Croatia. For this reason we are looking for contacts with activists and
organizations in Croatia, Austria and Italy. Hereby I am sending an
appeal made by Antiracist front that organized manifestation for open
borders last week.
Dear friends,Hungary just sealed the border with Serbia and started to
build the fence on the border with Romania. We have just recieved
information that a bigger group of refugees is on its way to the north
through Croatia and that they will soon attempt to cross the border with
Slovenia. There is a real possiblity that Slovene authorities will try
to close the border with Croatia, following the example of Hungary and
lately Germany. We believe that we must do whatever is in our power to
revert this possibility and keep the border open for refugees, migrants
and european citizens. For this reason we have decided to consider the
possiblity to organize transnational caravane for open borders. Our idea
is to mobilise as many people as possible to enable refugees to cross
the border and by this make a grassroots pressure on authorities not to
close the border. We believe this is one of the most crucial actions to
take NOW and we would like to discuss the possiblity to coordinate
efforts with organisations, collectives, individuals in Austria, Croatia
and Italy.Let’s connect and discuss this issue as soon as possible. We
would like to ask you to share this CALL to those who might be
concerned.

#OpenBorderCaravan : 24.9. bis 27.9. Internationale Karawane und Fluchthilfekonvoi
Leipzig and Vienna showed us how to do it – in Berlin we want to follow their example. Together with many international friends, comrades and other people we will help refugees to cross the borders. Instead of only watching, we want to practically support the refugee struggles on the European borders by organizing shuttle service.
While still talking of welcoming culture, the closure of the border was already being prepared. The armed federal police closed the border in Bavaria while the humanitarian catastrophe in the border areas of Serbia and Croatia, in the camps of Hungary and along the transit routes intensified. This closed border policy inside the Fortress Europe will not stop anyone from fleeing, but will lead to even more misery, fear and death. In this moment, it becomes obvious that the warm words of welcome of these last days were of little value. Therefore, our answer can only be practical help to cross the borders!
Let us join this uprising against the Dublin system. The last weeks have shown that the border regime can shake if challenged by the the power of the masses. The closure of the German borders has unleashed a domino effect reaching the European periphery. So let us create a domino effect of border crossing, civil disobedience and humanity.
Convoys from Vienna and Leipzig have already supported hundreds of people on their flight. #OpenBorderCaravan will depart from Berlin this weekend. We will depart and arrive in coordination with supporters and comrades from Italy and hopefully many other places. It will be a convoy, a caravan, carrying things that the people in the border areas of Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and along the transit routes need most urgently - and carrying the will to to practically facilitate their flight.
We will be on the road heading from Berlin towards South-East Europe from Thursday evening (22:00) until Sunday night/ Monday morning (24.9. – 27.9.). The convoy needs you, your energy and your solidarity. If you can join us or provide a car, please contact us. We also need donations: especially blankets, tents, warm clothes and shoes. openborders@posteo.de

Over 210,000 people applied for asylum in the EU in the second quarter of 2015
During the second quarter of 2015 (from April to June 2015), 213,200 people applied for protection for the first time in the European Union, up by 15% compared with the first quarter of 2015 and by 85% compared with the second quarter of 2014, Eurostat announced today.
In particular, the number of Syrians and Afghans rose considerably to reach almost 44,000 and 27,000 respectively. They represent the two main citizenships of first time asylum applicants in the EU over the second quarter 2015, accounting for a third of all first time applicants.
More than one out of three applied for asylum in Germany, or 80,900 first time applicants, followed by Hungary (32,700, or 15%), Austria (17,400, or 8%), Italy (14,900, or 7%), France (14,700, or 7%) and Sweden (14,300, or 7%).
Compared with the previous quarter, the number of first time asylum applicants in the second quarter 2015 notably jumped in the Netherlands (+159%), Latvia (+123%), Austria (+79%), Finland (+67%) and Denmark (+66%).
At the end of June 2015, almost 600,000 persons had their application for asylum protection in the EU still under consideration by the responsible national authority. Last year, at the end of June 2014, there were nearly 365,000. With 305,800 pending applications at the end of June 2015 (or 52% of the EU total), Germany had by far the largest share in the EU.

After Locking Down EU Border, Hungary Prepares to Extend Fence Toward Romania
Germany, Austria call for EU summit next week on refugees, say could not handle the crisis on their own.
Hungary: New Border Regime Threatens Asylum Seekers
Thousands of asylum seekers and migrants have been trapped in Serbia as a result of the de facto closure of the Hungarian border since September 15, 2015, when a new border regime came into force and a border fence was completed. Riot police repulsed people trying to cross a closed border point with water cannons and teargas. Half of 98 asylum applications received at the Serbian border on September 15, as the new system was put into operation, were rejected by the end of September 16. At least 46 people who have tried to enter from Serbia irregularly since September 15 have been arrested and prosecuted for irregular entry.

Europe’s refugee crisis: Is #Frontex bordering on chaos?
As Europe’s worst refugee crisis since the Second World War unfolded in May, hundreds of the continent’s overstretched border guards travelled to Warsaw for one of the highlights of their working year.
With the costs of flights and hotels paid by hosts Frontex, the EU border agency, the 800 delegates relaxed for what has become an annual event in their calendars, the European Day for Border Guards.
As the name suggests, it was a one-day affair and featured speeches from high ranking officials, important policy debates, films, exhibition stalls, dog handling displays and an impressive performance by the marching Polish Border Guard Representative Orchestra.
Avec une carte de l’#Espace_Schengen, toujours utile...
Sur l’#argent/#buget de Frontex :
The expansion and evolution of Frontex’s remit has been mirrored by budget increases. In its first full year of operations it had a budget of €19m and that has grown to €143m in 2015, a rise of 46% on 2014.
In total, it has received €862m of European taxpayers’ money since it was formed and in that time the number of people working at its Warsaw HQ has grown from 72 to 304.
Frontex receives over 90% of its current budget from the Commission, while the UK, which does not sit on the organisation’s management board, contributes €570,000. Norway gave €2.2m this year and Switzerland €3m.
The bulk of Frontex spending goes on its operations by paying countries for the equipment they lend, with ocean patrol vessels being its most costly items. However, these bills are relatively fixed in that they are determined by EU rate cards setting out what countries can charge for cars, personnel and fuel.
A Bureau analysis of the reimbursements issued by Frontex shows that in the seven years to 2014, more than €350m was reimbursed to 43 countries – including Schengen area states and others such as Albania and Turkey – for personnel and equipment.
Italy and Spain between them received more than €100m, reflecting the large number of boats and people they deployed to spot and rescue migrants and refugees in the Mediterranean.
Greece was compensated €28.6m in the period, while Iceland, which currently provides two large coast guard ships and crew and one aircraft, was reimbursed €21.8m over the seven year period.
Austria received €20m, while Germany and Portugal received €19m and €18m respectively. In contrast, the resources the UK provided for Frontex operations were worth €3.2m over seven years.
When it comes to spending on itself – on its staff, headquarters, publicity and branding, for example – Frontex has more discretion.
A Bureau examination of its accounts and contracts has found eyebrow-raising items.
As with all other EU institutions, there is a high proportion of relatively more expensive senior expatriate staff.
Of the 304 people employed in Warsaw on June 1 this year, 185 were non-Polish nationals.
The total wage bill in Warsaw is about €20m, with €1.5m paid out each year for expatriation allowances, another €1.3m for “family allowances” such as school fees, while €165,000 was spent last year flying people home for their annual leave.
Significant chunks of the Frontex budget is also reserved for parties and other social events.
Last year, Frontex awarded a contract worth €22,000 for a staff Christmas party at the top class Palac Prymasowski restaurant in Warsaw where 350 employees and their spouses celebrated the year end.
The Bureau also identified a contract worth €17,500 for eight chairs awarded to a furniture company in Finland in 2014. A Frontex spokeswoman said they were “black leather chairs with a trimension mechanism and a minimum warranty period of five years”.
Over the past two years alone, Frontex has also budgeted €137,000 for ‘Corporate Identity’.
This included one contract worth €38,500 to a Warsaw stationery company; according to the company’s invoice, Frontex paid €9,100 for 400 Parker pens and pencils, and another €5,160 for 4,000 Frontex logoed key rings.
And last December, Frontex incurred at least €1.8m of additional costs when it relocated its entire headquarters operation into Poland’s newest landmark building complex – the glass-clad Warsaw Spire centre where office neighbours include a leading international investment bank.
The Dutch Response to the Refugee Crisis
Germany is not the only country taking action. With the permeability of the external borders as a given fact, more countries are looking into ways to monitor internal cross border mobility. Besides Slovakia and Austria the Netherlands has also called into force some new measures. Yet despite what is being suggested in some media, the Netherlands is neither following the German example nor introducing border controls “all of a sudden.” But what are the Dutch doing then?

Forget Ukraine. It’s Business As Usual Between Europe and Russia
▻http://www.newsweek.com/forget-ukraine-its-business-usual-between-europe-and-russia-369730
It was just like the old days before the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia in 2014. At the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok Gazprom clinched three major deals with some of Europe’s biggest energy companies.
One of the most important was the revival of a lucrative asset swap between the Russian energy giant and Wintershall, the energy division of BASF, a German chemical company. BASF had abandoned that swap arrangement in December 2014 because of the geopolitical consequences of Russia’s invasion of eastern Ukraine and its annexation of Crimea.
The asset swap and other deals signed in Vladivostok show how German as well as Austrian energy companies are loath to quit Russia. They also show how Gazprom wants to tie Europe’s lucrative gas market more closely to Russia. In 2013, Russia supplied the EU’s 28 countries with 30 percent of their gas needs.
But more importantly, the deals confirm how Russia is determined to end Ukraine’s role as the major transit route for Russian gas to Europe. Half of the Russian gas imported by Europe crosses Ukraine.
Under the terms of the deal between BASF and Gazprom, BASF’s subsidiary Wintershall will obtain a stake of 25 percent plus one share in the Urengoy natural gas fields in Siberia. Both firms will develop the fields.
In return, Wintershall will transfer to Gazprom its jointly owned gas storage and trading business in Germany as well as a stake in its business in Austria. Through the asset swap, Gazprom will also receive a 50 percent stake in Wintershall’s exploration and production of oil and gas in the North Sea. These activities amounted to sales of over $13.4 billion in 2014, according to BASF.
The second deal agreed to in Vladivostok involves Gazprom and a European consortium building a second Nord Stream pipeline under the Baltic Sea. This will enable Russia to send more of its gas directly to Germany, bypassing Ukraine.
The consortium consists of BASF, German energy company E.ON, French electricity company Engie, Austrian oil and gas firm OMV and Royal Dutch Shell. Gazprom will own a 51 percent share of a new company called New European Pipeline AG, which will develop the project. The other partners will have a 10 percent stake, except for Engie, which will own 9 percent.
“The fact that the global energy majors participate in the project bespeaks its significance for securing reliable gas supply to European consumers,” stated Alexey Miller, chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.
Tell that to Poland and the Baltic states—and Ukraine. They had criticized the first Nord Stream pipeline, which was agreed to under the then German chancellor Gerhard Schröder in 2005. At the time, Warsaw argued that the deal increased Europe’s dependence on Russian energy.
Since then, however, Europe has been diversifying its energy supplies, spurred by the 2009 Ukraine gas crisis, which disrupted supplies to Europe because of a dispute between Russia and Ukraine over energy prices.
Also, through its Third Energy Package, the European Commission is introducing more competition in the energy sector by breaking the hold any one company can have over the production, distribution and trading of gas. That is one of the main reasons why in December 2014 Russia pulled out of the South Stream project, which was to transport gas across the Black Sea to Southeastern Europe. Under the terms of the commission package, Russia would have had to open up the gas pipeline to competition.
The third deal reached in Vladivostok involves OMV’s participation in the Urengoy oil and gas fields. When the deal is concluded, OMV will acquire a 24.8 percent stake in the project in exchange for Gazprom obtaining some of the assets of OMV.
Sans trop de surprise, le projet de #North_Stream_2 ne plait pas à l’Ukraine…
Ukraine PM calls second Russia-Germany pipeline ’anti-European’ - Yahoo News
▻http://news.yahoo.com/ukraine-pm-calls-second-russia-germany-pipeline-anti-173441635.html
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Thursday criticised as “anti-Ukrainian and anti-European” a deal between Russia’s energy giant Gazprom and several Western firms to build a second gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea.
In June, Gazprom agreed with Anglo-Dutch Shell, Germany’s E.ON and Austria’s OMV to build the new gas pipeline — dubbed Nord Stream-2 — to Germany, bypassing conflict-torn Ukraine and also EU neighbour Poland.
“When the first Nord Stream was built, it brought the European Union no additional energy independence,” Yatsenyuk said after talks with Slovak counterpart Robert Fico in Bratislava.
“The construction of Nord Stream-2 is affecting the security of the continuous gas supply of the EU’s southeastern countries. It is a monopolisation of gas supply routes to the EU,” he told reporters.
“This project is anti-Ukrainian and anti-European.”
“This project is anti-Ukrainian and anti-European.”

Thousands of migrants have crossed into Austria, after Hungary’s surprise move to take them by bus to the border.
For days the government had blocked them from travelling by train, but it relented after many began walking towards the border on Friday.
About 4,000 people arrived in Austria, with many moving on to Germany. Meanwhile a second group has set off on foot from Budapest towards the border.

Soil area the size of Berlin lost each year due to water erosion in the EU - JRC Science Hub - European Commission
▻https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/news/soil-area-size-berlin-lost-each-year-due-water-erosion-eu
Soil erosion by water accounts for the greatest loss of soil in Europe compared to other erosion processes, such as wind. The highest average annual rates of soil erosion by water were found in Italy (8.46 t/ha), Slovenia (7.43 t/ha) and Austria (7.19 t/ha), and the lowest were found in Finland (0.06 t/ha), Estonia (0.21 t/ha) and the Netherlands (0.27 t/ha). Agricultural lands account for 68.3% of total soil losses, while forests account for less than 1%. A new high resolution map (100 m) of soil erosion by water in the EU (2010) is now available, providing details of soil erosion by water across the EU.
While recent policy interventions (such as the Good Agricultural and Environment Condition requirements of the CAP, and the EU Soil Thematic Strategy) have reduced the rate of soil loss in the EU by an average of 9.5% overall, and by 20% for arable lands, the study finds that four million hectares of EU croplands have unsustainable rates of soil loss (more than 5 tonnes per hectare per year).

"Refugee Airbnb": Amidst the worst migrant crisis in Europe since World War 2, one German couple founds a ’Airbnb-style’ non profit to provide affordable housing to refugees
With 200,000 refugees applying for asylum in Germany, and with desperate towns and government officials suggesting housing them in old concentration camps, one young couple stepped up with an innovative new idea. Mareike Geiling and Jonas Kakosche created a website known as Refugees Welcome which works like Airbnb to match refugees with charitable individuals who are willing to live or provide home to a refugee, and the living expenses of the refugee are covered through donations and other refugee organizations. To this point, 124 refugees have successfully found a home (80 in Germany and 44 in Austria), and a further 400 applications have been lodged and are awaiting successful placement.

After the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, for a while it seemed like border fences and barriers were a thing of the past in Europe. Many on the continent hoped for a new era of integration and receptivity. It didn’t happen. Instead, a variety of pressures have led Europe to adopt wall-building projects that would make Donald Trump proud.
Right now, in Hungary, for example, the government is rushing to complete a 109-mile-long barbed wire border fence along its southern frontier with Serbia – a project made bitterly ironic by Hungary’s 1989 decision to cut its border fence with Austria and help break the Iron Curtain. “We have only recently taken down walls in Europe,” European Union spokesperson Natasha Bertaud said when news of the fence spread in June. “We should not be putting them up.”

It is getting crowded in the world of Eastern European strategic partnerships.
Imitation, we are told, is the sincerest form of flattery. Visegrad Group acolytes would do well to remember this as they bemoan the rival geopolitical groupings springing up across their neighborhood.
January brought the founding of the Slavkov Triangle, between Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Poland, which has in recent years appointed itself somewhat haughtily the keeper of the Visegrad flame, howled.
Then, in April we saw the announcement about the Craiova Group of Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia. The southeastern copy of Visegrad goes some way toward formalizing a bloc within the “V4+”, an expanded format that has become increasingly popular as a means for Visegrad to inflate its clout.
Either side of its 24th birthday, and with its effectiveness and influence already on the wane, Visegrad went from being the de facto representative of Central European views to becoming just one of three groups straining to be heard in the cacophony of European diplomacy.
But while they appear to have weakened its position as the region’s foremost lobby bloc, Visegrad has reasons to be proud of its impersonators. Arguably a sign of its relative decline, they are undoubtedly a product of its success. And engaging with their development may prove more rewarding than opposing it.
