Leaked Documents Reveal Counterterrorism Tactics Used at Standing Rock to “Defeat Pipeline Insurgencies”

A shadowy international mercenary and security firm known as #TigerSwan targeted the movement opposed to the Dakota Access Pipeline with military-style #counterterrorism measures, collaborating closely with police in at least five states, according to internal documents obtained by The Intercept. The documents provide the first detailed picture of how TigerSwan, which originated as a U.S. military and State Department contractor helping to execute the global war on terror, worked at the behest of its client #Energy_Transfer_Partners, the company building the #Dakota_Access_Pipeline, to respond to the indigenous-led movement that sought to stop the project.

The deadline for Standing Rock campsite residents to depart their campsites along the Missouri River occurred last Wednesday. The evacuation deadline passed at 2 pm MST, coincidently marking a two year effort to prevent the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL), a conduit spanning 1,172 miles with the purpose of transporting crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois. Representatives from approximately 300 of the 566 recognized Native American tribes in the United States actively participated at the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota since April of 2016.

Projets d’oléoducs : Trump repart en guerre contre les Sioux
    ►https://www.bastamag.net/Relance-d-oleoducs-les-Sioux-veulent-poursuivre-le-gouvernement-de-Donald-

Largest Bank in Norway Sells Its Assets in Dakota Access Pipeline
    ▻http://www.ecowatch.com/norway-dnb-dakota-access-pipeline-2098464180.html

Earlier this month, Reuters reported that DNB was “reconsidering its participation” in the financing of the pipeline if “concerns raised by Native American tribes against its construction are not addressed.”

“We have initiated an independent review of how indigenous rights are safeguarded in this process,” Even Westerveld of DNB said. “In addition, we have intensified the dialogue with our customers to use our position as a bank to influence a solution to the conflict.”

“It is great that DNB has sold its assets in the disputed pipeline, and it is a clear signal that it is important that people speak out when injustice is committed,” Martin Norman, Greenpeace Norway sustainable finance campaigner, said. “We now expect DNB to also terminate its loans for the project immediately.”

In an extended interview with one of the first people arrested in the resistance movement against the #Dakota_Access_pipeline, Dr. Sara Jumping Eagle explains, “as a physician, I’m very aware of what the health effects could be of a pipeline spill … among our communities.” Jumping Eagle is a pediatrician and a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

#AMY_GOODMAN: Well, on Sunday, while we were on the reservation, we spoke more with Dr. Sara Jumping Eagle about why she, as a pediatrician, opposes the $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline.

DR. SARA JUMPING EAGLE: Anpétu wasté. I’m Dr. Sara Jumping Eagle. [speaking in Lakota]

AMY GOODMAN: You were one of the first people arrested during these resistance movements against the Dakota Access pipeline. What—when was it, and why did you do it as a doctor here?
