GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — A 32-year-old Palestinian was shot and killed on Sunday by Israeli forces east of Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern besieged Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army announced that its soldiers spotted a Palestinian approaching the security border fence and opened fire at him, causing him injuries and later detaining him.

The Israeli army added that the Palestinian succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

A Ma’an reporter said that Israeli forces opened fire at a Palestinian man, who was later identified as Ataf Saleh , 32, from the Jabaliya refugee camp.

According to reports, Israeli military vehicles then entered several meters near the return camps in the Gaza Strip and detained Saleh after seriously injuring him.

Israeli forces opened fire at anyone attempting to approach the border fence and prevented ambulances from reaching Saleh for more than half an hour, during which he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said that three Palestinian youths were detained as they allegedly attempted to enter into Israel in central Gaza.

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — Israeli forces shot and killed a 16-year-old Palestinian in central Gaza on Friday during clashes that erupted along the border with Israel, while at least seven other Palestinian protesters were injured with live ammunition, as tensions have continued to mount over Israel’s restrictive policies at Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said that Israeli forces shot and killed 16-year-old Hussein Abu Hasima east of Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza during clashes that had erupted over Israeli policies at Al-Aqsa, while seven others were injured with live ammunition in the eastern districts of the Gaza Strip.

The slain Palestinian and the seven injured were transferred to Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Four of the seven injured were wounded with live ammunition during clashes that had erupted east of the Jabaliya refugee camp north of Gaza city, while at least one was injured in clashes east of Khan Yunis city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Witnesses said that Israeli forces had fired “heavily” on Palestinian protesters, while simultaneously shooting tear gas into the crowd of demonstrators.

Gaza’s Health Ministry added that two Palestinian medics had suffered from tear gas inhalation during the clashes.

Abu Hasima was the second Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces on Friday, while another Palestinian was reported in critical condition after being shot by Israeli forces in the Jerusalem-area town of al-Ram.

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — Amid widespread protests Thursday night regarding the electricity crisis in the Gaza Strip, reports have emerged of Hamas security forces assaulting journalists covering the protests, as well as arresting opposition leaders suspected of criticizing the governing party’s handling of the crisis.

Crowded marches had set off in the northern Gaza Strip, mainly in the Jabaliya refugee camp, demanding a solution to the power crisis which has left the besieged coastal enclave with less than half of the electricity it needs.

Witnesses told Ma’an that during the marches, Gaza security forces opened fire in the air to suppress protesters “to prevent protesters from reaching the electricity company in Jabaliya.”

In the same march, Gaza police officers assaulted journalists covering the event.

AFP photographer Muhammad al-Baba told Ma’an that “members of the security forces beat me while covering the Jabaliya march at the electricity company headquarters injuring me in the head and I was taken to a hospital for treatment.”

AP journalist Fares al-Ghoul told Ma’an that “members of security put a gun on my chest and forced me to give them my cell phone.” Al-Ghoul added that forces returned his cell phone during the incident.

Hundreds of Gazans took part in the march near Jabaliya camp, which was organized by the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP).

    • Le ras-le-bol des Gazaouis face à la pénurie d’électricité
Par RFI Publié le 13-01-2017 | Avec notre correspondant à Jérusalem, Guilhem Delteil
      http://www.rfi.fr/moyen-orient/20170113-le-ras-le-bol-gazaouis-face-penurie-electricite
