Microsoft “will not stand in the way” if Activision Blizzard recognizes a union, said the company’s corporate vice president and general counsel, Lisa Tanzi, in a statement to The Washington Post on Thursday.

“Microsoft respects Activision Blizzard employees’ right to choose whether to be represented by a labor organization and we will honor those decisions,” Tanzi said.

In January, Microsoft announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, the embattled video game publisher and developer, for nearly $69 billion in an all-cash deal. Fifteen workers at Raven Software, a studio owned by Activision Blizzard, signed a letter Wednesday calling for Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to encourage Activision Blizzard to voluntarily recognize their union, the Game Workers Alliance. Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith was copied on the letter.

Activision Blizzard Inc. was hit with a new lawsuit Wednesday alleging that a current employee experienced sexual harassment and discrimination at the video game maker and was retaliated against for speaking out about her experiences.

The suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of an employee referred to as “Jane Doe” by attorney Lisa Bloom, who, in December, hosted a press conference in front of Blizzard’s Irvine, Calif., office, to detail what she called an “alcohol-soaked culture of sexual harassment.”

“For years, Activision Blizzard’s open ‘frat boy’ environment fostered rampant sexism, harassment and discrimination with 700 reported incidents occurring under CEO Robert Kotick’s watch,” the lawsuit says.

Since I’ve been employed at Blizzard, I’ve been subjected to rude comments about my body, unwanted sexual advances, inappropriately touched, subjected to alcohol-infused team events and cube crawls, invited to have casual sex with my supervisors, and surrounded by a frat boy culture that’s detrimental to women. 
When I complained to my supervisors, I was told they were just joking and that I should get over it. I began to remove myself from work events to avoid all the sexual comments and groping. I was told not to go to HR. I was told that the harassing men were just trying to be friends with me. I was told they did nothing wrong by law. After I complained of the sexual harassment, I was demoted. I was then further harassed and retaliated against. I’ve been denied my full profit sharing, denied shares at the company, and have had minimal raises in the four years I’ve been employed at Blizzard.

She alleged that she was propositioned for sex from a supervisor; when she went to managers about it, they allegedly told her not to go to human resources. Christine said she was demoted after her complaint and continued to be harassed and retaliated against, including being denied her full profit-sharing.
