In response to an inquiry by +972, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that the weapon is “part of our means for riot dispersal in Judea and Samaria. The weapon is remote controlled and has the ability to fire water, tear gas grenades, etc.. It is important to state that it does not fire live ammunition. Israeli security forces act in various ways in order to maintain order in the area, while avoiding harming innocents.” The unit refrained from responding to questions about the reason for installing the system, and whether there are any plans to use the weapon in more areas across the separation barrier.

Il y aurait plus d’armes que de citoyens.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior is planning to import 1.6 million tear gas canisters and 90,000 tear gas grenades, according to a leaked document, published today by research and advocacy group Bahrain Watch. The document — apparently a tender issued by the Ministry of Interior’s Purchasing Directorate — shows that Bahrain’s security forces are stockpiling massive amounts of tear gas, despite serious concerns of international NGOs and the United Nations Human Rights Council. These groups have called Bahrain’s use of tear gas “unnecessary and indiscriminate”, and “lethal”. This planned new shipment will supply Bahrain with more tear gas canisters than the entire population of the country.

Since 2011, tear gas in Bahrain :
has reportedly caused 39 deaths, according to Physicians for Human Rights, both from direct canister hits, and exposure to the gas. Victims include men, women, children, elderly, and the disabled
may be responsible for an increase in miscarriages, sickle cell disease deaths, blindness, and serious respiratory illnesses due to its use in enclosed residential areas
has been used as a form of collective punishment of entire villages through the indiscriminate and unnecessary targeting of the general public in residential areas
has been fired recklessly into homes, mosques, places of worship, vehicles and even football pitches.

Israel okays PA’s acquisition of anti-riot gear ahead of UN vote - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News
►http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/israel-okays-pa-s-acquisition-of-anti-riot-gear-ahead-of-un-vote-1.384530?l
Israel has given approval for the Palestinian Authority to equip its security forces with riot-control gear, such as tear gas grenades and rubber bullets.
The PA has approached Israeli firms to buy such equipment in advance of expected demonstrations on the West Bank around the Palestinians’ request for United Nations recognition as an independent state.
Palestinian security officials told their Israeli counterparts in their regular meetings that they will do everything within their ability to contain demonstrations and prevent violent interactions with the Israel Defense Forces and settlers. But the two sides are also preparing for the possibility that demonstrations will escalate into violence the PA will find it difficult to control. Thus, the IDF recommended a few months ago to allow the PA to acquire such equipment, so the Palestinians could deal with demonstrations before the IDF had to.
Si l’Autorité palestinienne pouvait se charger de tuer les palestiniens à la place d’Israël, ça serait drôlement pratique.
