We have had numerous calls from those who want some type of Bible diploma or degree in order that they too can be considered preachers. In fact, the calls almost always revolved around a distorted view of the caller having a right to be a preacher. Callers feel that they cannot preach the gospel unless they have some Bible diploma or degree, and preferably one that is awarded by some accredited Bible institution.

Effleurant des doigts la table de mixage, Sarouna fait surgir de temps à autre un chant lancinant au milieu des basses. Avec d’autres grands noms de la scène électro palestinienne, elle crée des morceaux en piochant dans le folklore local.

Le projet est né dans la tête de Rashid Abdelhamid, un producteur de cinéma. Épaulé par Sama Abdulhadi, considérée comme la première femme DJ palestinienne, ils ont réuni dix artistes venus des territoires palestiniens occupés mais aussi de Haïfa, Londres, Paris ou Amman dans une villa à Ramallah, en Cisjordanie.

De cette résidence d’artistes qui a duré deux semaines en 2018 est né un album de dix-huit chansons, intitulé Electrosteen, contraction entre « électro » et « Falesteen », Palestine en arabe.

Chacun avec son univers musical, les artistes ont œuvré à partir de centaines de musiques traditionnelles palestiniennes enregistrées il y a une quinzaine d’années par le Centre des arts populaires, une organisation palestinienne basée à Ramallah.

Au début, face à ces morceaux issus du riche folklore local, « on ne savait que faire, on ne voulait pas les abîmer », confie en riant Sarouna, cheveux coupés à la garçonne et sweat à capuche barré d’une inscription en arabe : « Fabriqué en Palestine ».

This week, members of the Saeima unexpectedly declined amendments that provided for the merging of finance and customs police of the State Revenue Service. After hearing out deputies, Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola decided not to give up.
This week was rich with all kinds of paradoxes and surprises. For example, it became known that investments of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Latvia have reached approximately EUR 600 million.
Opposite to claims that Latvia is irrationally using its forests, it turns out that the total forested area in Latvia has doubled since the pre-war period. It continues to increase year after year, according to information from Green House association.

Latvia is ready for EU funds financing implementation for 3,2bl euro

Until 15th of August this year responsible ministries have ensured progress in investment tasks fulfillment, and as for now there are approved Cabinet of Ministers regulations for EU funds investments that amounts 3,2bl euro. Progress is seen also in the next phase - project selection process.

State Revenue Service still without the director

During the few last week there have been many discussions around the possible director for State Revenue Service (SRS). First, an open competition was set, but the four candidates did not receive support. In the next raund, the minister of Finances, Dana Reizniece-Ozola, proposted Inga Koļegova as the next director.
Party Union has raised concerns that she is not a good candidate as her income declarations raises suspicions.
It is possible that minister of Finances will still propose Inga Koļegova as the candidate, and there will be a vote about whether she gets the post.

Doctors in Latvia to strike in autumn

During the discussions about the budget 2017, medic association has expressed deep discontent that the government does not take into account international recommendation and the current situation in health care system.
It is calculated that to improve the situation, health care should receive 100millions more than it gets now. The government is ready to transfer about third of that.
Doctors feel that their demands are not heard and they are ready to protest in autumn.

For decades, periods of drought and little rainfall failed to dry out the water in the Houshbay reservoir or in the other springs located in the western Baalbek region. Only humans have managed to do this, robbing the poor of their drinking water and a free venue for recreation.
