The conversation began when Ian shared an article by Stathis Kouvelakis, who is a member of Syriza’s central committee. [#Kouvelakis' article in English (July 21). Original article de Kouvelakis en francais (July 18).] In this article, Kouvelakis criticizes Tsipras for not standing firm against austerity, for suggesting “there is no alternative”, and for breaking #Syriza party rules.
Although she generally shares the vision of Syriza’s Left Platform, Theodora responded with an argument that Kouvelakis and #Left_Platform are also responsible for the lack of an alternative. This started a debate among Theodora, Morgan, Zoe and Ian on topics of political strategy, ranging from (1) how much can Left Platform be faulted for not having a Plan B, (2) what should LP do now, (3) the role of #Varoufakis, (4) the meaning of the #OXI vote and its significance for #mobilization, and (5) #radicalization and the role of #leadership.
