    HOREO-GRAPHIC FIGURES

The artistic research project Choreo-graphic Figures: Deviations from the Line - by artist-performer Nikolaus Gansterer, choreographer-dancer Mariella Greil and writer-artist Emma Cocker – will take place in collaboration with AILab and ImPulsTanz Festival. Working in dialogue with “the sputniks” Alex Arteaga, Lilia Mestre, Christine de Smedt and special guests, the focus for the Summerlab Lab 2016 is on the choreo-graphic qualities of translational processes, shifts of attention, and modes of language. Evolving previous research around notation and radical scores of attention and embodied diagrams, the project focus now turns towards experimental forms of publication, explored through a series of public openings in various formats including lectures, workshops, and performances.

Two special intensives are scheduled and opened to a limited number of participants:
Intensive I (Shifts of Attention: vigilance, engagement and translational processes) on 23.07. + 24.07.2016 and Intensive II (Modes of Languages: words as material) on 30.07. + 31.07.2016. Participation in both sessions is suggested, but not mandatory! Please make your booking via ImPulsTanz.

On Friday 22 July at 18:00 our two special guests of Intensive I will give public lectures at AILab:
    – Dieter Mersch (“Figuration/Defiguration. On the dialectics of”Choreo-Graphy”)
    – P. A. Skantze (“I’m A Strange Kind of In-Between Thing”
).

On Friday 29 July at 18:00 our two special guests of Intensive II will give public lectures at AILab:
    – Brandon LaBelle (“This Weakness That I Am”)
    – Alva Noë (“Writing Ourselves”).

Both Friday Lectures will be moderated by Chris Standfest in conversation with the team and guests of the Choreo-graphic Figures research project.

On the 2.8. 2016 the team of Choroeo-graphic Figures will premiere the durational performance “Choreo-graphic Figures: Body Diagrams” at AILab - Angewandte Innovation Laboratory, Franz-Josefs-Kai 3, 1010 Vienna, Austria.

Comprising performative, discursive and installation based elements, Choreo-graphic Figures: Body Diagrams unfolds as a six-hour durational Radical Score of Attention, where members of the public are invited to come and go, to dwell and linger. Embodied diagrams, notational experiments, relational and translational encounters shape an ever-changing assemblage of choreo-graphic figures; attention heightened towards a barely perceptible realm of micro-movements and micro-gestures, the shifts of awareness and affordance activated in the side-by-side of collaborative exchange, opened up through the interference of space, sound, body and material.

The international team with Emma Cocker, Christine deSmedt, Nikolaus Gansterer, Mariella Greil, Lilia Mestre, Werner Moebius, Jörg Piringer and guests invigorates the various spaces and premises of AILab through an expanded, undisciplinary choreo-graphy.
