Sir Philip Parker was a wealthy landowner with estates in Suffolk and Norfolk; this map offered the chance to flaunt his wealth, cultural interests and political loyalties. One of the earliest estate plans to be drawn up, it presents a mathematically accurate, but rather sanitised picture, replete with hunting scenes, milkmaids and cattle
