Dear reader. Thank you for your message. The Dutch Higher Education sector is campaigning against budget cuts. We do not work longer than our contracted hours. This will result in a delay in receiving a reply. The lack of proper funding of higher education and science has led to structural overtime and this has negative consequences for the quality of higher education and science overall, as well is for the well-being of my colleagues, myself and our students. Apologies for any inadvertent inconvenience caused, we hope to count on your understand. For more information: https://woinactie.blogspot.com/p/the-demands.html Kind regards, XX

    Explanation
    Demand: abolishing the efficiency cuts
As if all of this would not be serious enough, an additional cut is planned from the Cabinet in the form of a so-called “efficiency cut” of structural 183 million euros. This threatens to be pushed through despite a negative motion from the Senate. Abolishing the efficiency discount would mean that the government grant will not go further in the coming years, as illustrated in the graph below (blue line):

Demand: restoration of the government funding to the level of 2000.
The above is certainly not enough to return to a workable situation at the university. WOinActie therefore requires an extra investment of 1.15 billion per year that is needed to turn the tide in academic education. With this much-needed investment, the government grant per student will return to the situation in 2000 as can be seen in the graph below (blue line):
