+++ Worldmapgenerator Update +++

Seit über eineinhalb Jahren entwickelt das Projektteam im Rahmen der Berner Fachhochschule
(Forschungsschwerpunkt Kommunikationsdesign) eine Software zum Generieren von unkonventionellen Weltkarten.
Nun sind wir am Ende unserer Entwicklungsarbeit und präsentieren das Endprodukt: den worldmapgenerator.com

Die Software ist seit einigen Monaten online. Diese Endversion ist nun vollständig und durch folgende Neuigkeiten ergänzt:

Depuis un an et demi, l’équipe du projet a développé une application web pour générer
des cartes du monde non-conventionnelles. Ce travail a été effectué dans le cadre d’un projet
de recherche attaché à l’Université des Sciences Appliquées de Berne.
Nous avons maintenant terminé l’intégration de l’application et voici le résultat : le worldmapgenrator.com

L’application est en ligne depuis plusieurs mois, cette version ajoute les fonctionnalités suivantes :

For more than one and a half year, the project team has developed a software to generate unconventional world maps.
This development took place in the scope of a Bern University of Applied Sciences research project.

Viewpoint Update

In the scope of a Communication Design research project for the Bern University of Applied Sciences, we developed an web application to generate unconventional world maps.

Mis à jour Viewpoint

Dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche en Communication Design pour la haute école spécialisée bernoise, nous avons dévelopé une application Web qui permet de générer des cartes du monde orginales et non conventionelles.

Cette application est online depuis quelques mois. Nouveau : le mode « journaliste » a été implémenté est permet d’afficherune carte du monde originale dans le contexte d’un article de journal.

The “Viewpoints” project explores the aesthetic question whether there is a parameter-based method for generating unconventional maps of the world that do justice to the thematic context in which they appear. A project-specific software is developed that combines parameters of descriptive geometry and map graphics in an explorative process to bring forth the desired effects in world maps. So far, map production by means of projection has been governed by certain rules that determine the geographical area depicted at the centre of the map. With conventional world maps, the horizontal centre is usually made up by the equator.

The project software enables the generation and design of wholly new and unconventional varieties of world maps in simple and structured ways.
