Half of the beaches along the Gaza Strip’s coast are dangerously contaminated and unfit for swimming, Ma’an news agency reported on Tuesday. Citing monthly studies by Palestinian environmental authorities and the ministry of health, Ma’an reported that more than 50 percent of Gaza’s beaches were contaminated, mainly by sewage treatment stations. According to environmental authorities spokesman Khaled Abu Ghali, the water #pollution is largely due to continuous power cuts at the sewage stations in Gaza City, Khan Younis and Rafah. read (...)
