    his week has mingled, for me, the sadness of losing David Graeber the person, and the joy of immersing myself in David Graeber the writer, by diving into his many electrifyingly original essays and books, though their brilliance makes the loss all the sadder. The anthropologist and activist died in Venice on 2 September, suddenly and unexpectedly, and waves of grief, remembrance and gratitude streamed in from around the globe.

    He was a remarkable person, both a distinguished scholar and a committed direct-action organiser. The latter ranged from the global justice movement of the late 1990s to Occupy Wall Street in 2011, up to his support in recent years of the beautifully anarchic autonomous Rojava region in northeast Syria.

Graeber helped organize the initial Occupy Wall Street protest and was credited with helping to develop the slogan, “We are the 99%.” “The idea is the system is not going to save us; we’re going to have to save ourselves,” says Graeber. “So, we’re going to try to get as many people as possible to camp in some public place and start rebuilding society as we’d like to see it.” He also discusses how his influential book “Debt: The First 5,000 Years” makes the case for sweeping debt cancellation.

      Drôle d’interview qui ressemble plus à une discussion entre copines, la jeune journaliste et la vieille féministe gauchiste (maoïste, dit-elle). Les questions sont presque plus intéressantes que les réponses. Il est question de mayonnaise et de #Marie_Kondo dont #Barbara_Ehrenreich a critiqué le mauvais anglais.

      Well, I think what I said was really stupid—ill considered and written quickly and I was mortified. Some editor had asked me to write something about Marie Kondo, so I watched part of her show on Netflix, and I was appalled. I hope that’s not intrinsically bad. I’ll admit something to you—one thing that was also going on was that my mother would just throw all my clothes out of the chest of drawers and onto the floor when she thought things were messy. Something about that got triggered with Marie Kondo and I felt this sort of rage, not that that’s an excuse or anything.

    L’un de mes livres préférés quand j’étais jeune était « La Quête du roi Arthur » de T. H. White ; et l’un de ses thèmes centraux est la tentative du roi Arthur de remplacer un ethos de « la loi du plus fort » par quelque chose de plus juste.

    La justice signifie que tout le monde est égal devant la loi – et l’égalité signifie à la fois que tout le monde a la même valeur devant la loi et que tout le monde est soumis à la loi. C’est un concept fondamental pour les États-Unis, mais la réalité est que la loi du plus fort n’a jamais cessé d’être la façon dont les choses fonctionnent vraiment, du moins en partie. Dans le roman de White, le « plus fort » renvoie principalement à la capacité de violence physique de la part des guerriers, des armées, des tribus et des royaumes ; mais à l’heure actuelle, ce qui importe réellement est la capacité des individus (et des entreprises et des nations) de commettre cette violence en toute impunité.

    L’immense travail accompli par des journalistes d’investigation ces dernières années nous a permis de voir en pleine lumière le pouvoir de ces « forts », faisant de leurs mieux pour piétiner, faire taire, discréditer les moins puissants et leurs droits, et avec eux l’idée du droit comme une éthique indépendante du pouvoir. Le fait que ces hommes dirigent les médias, le gouvernement et le système financier en dit long sur le genre de systèmes qu’ils composent. Ces systèmes ont travaillé dur pour les protéger, encore et encore. En effet, la puissance des « forts » n’est pas en eux, mais dans l’ensemble des individus et des institutions qui les environnent. Il est donc essentiel d’examiner, au-delà des agresseurs individuels, les systèmes qui leur permettent de commettre des crimes en toute impunité.

    Peut-être que l’une des raisons pour lesquelles le viol a si souvent été dépeint comme « un étranger surgissant des buissons » est pour nous faire imaginer des violeurs agissant seuls. Mais dans une multitude de cas, les violeurs ont de l’aide, au moment des faits et toute le reste de leur vie, et cette aide est généralement puissante, étendue et ancrée. C’est pourquoi nous parlons de culture du viol, et c’est pourquoi pour changer cela il faut changer la culture dans son ensemble.

    According to one account of the feminist conversation that followed, a young woman with the online name Kaye (who has since been harassed or intimidated into withdrawing from the public conversation) decided to start tweeting with the hashtag #YesAllWomen at some point that Saturday after the massacre. By Sunday night, half a million #yesallwomen tweets had appeared around the world, as though a dam had burst. And perhaps it had. The phrase described the hells and terrors women face and specifically critiqued a stock male response when women talked about their oppression: “Not all men.”

    It’s the way some men say, “I’m not the problem” or that they shifted the conversation from actual corpses and victims as well as perpetrators to protecting the comfort level of bystander males. An exasperated woman remarked to me, “What do they want — a cookie for not hitting, raping, or threatening women?” Women are afraid of being raped and murdered all the time and sometimes that’s more important to talk about than protecting male comfort levels. Or as someone named Jenny Chiu tweeted, “Sure #NotAllMen are misogynists and rapists. That’s not the point. The point is that #YesAllWomen live in fear of the ones that are.”

      D’ailleurs c’est un sujet récurrent au point où le groupe « punk » Die Ärzte l’a traité dans une chanson qui en évoque les idée recues traditionelles. La vidéo plaira surtout aux amateurs (amatrices ?!?) de revenge movies .

      Die Single „Ein Schwein namens Männer“ erreichte im gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum Platz 1 der Chartlisten und wurde damit zu einer der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Veröffentlichungen der Band. Zu diesem positiven Ergebnis trug unter anderem das mittlerweile sehr populäre Video zum Lied „Männer sind Schweine“ bei, in ihm ist eine Schießerei zwischen der Videospiel-Heldin Lara Croft und den drei Bandmitgliedern zu sehen, an deren Ende die Musiker unterliegen.

      Männer sind Schweine wurde von der Band lange nicht mehr live gespielt, da es ihr nicht gefiel, dass das Lied auf dem Oktoberfest gespielt wurde, oder auf diversen Ballermann-CDs Coverversionen des Songs auftauchten. Besucher des Oktoberfests und Ballermann-Fans seien nicht das Zielpublikum der Band.
