A Photographer’s Return to Kobani

“Kurdish people love to sing, but lately the songs sound happier,” photographer #Frederic_Lafargue said.

After Kurdish forces freed the Syrian border town of Kobani from Islamic State in late January, displaced residents have begun their return to the city, which was destroyed during a four-month-long battle to regain control.

Mr. Lafargue, on assignment for The Wall Street Journal, also returned to Kobani after covering the fighting in November.
