The Israeli army hacked into the control tower of Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, issuing threats against an Iranian civilian aircraft attempting to land, according to official sources.

Following these threats, the Lebanese Ministry of Transport instructed airport authorities to prevent the Iranian plane from entering Lebanese airspace. Sources from the ministry told Anadolu that this directive was issued amid the Israeli army’s aggressive stance.

It is worth noting that “Israel” issued no comments regarding these reports. Earlier, Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated, “We will not allow any weapons to be transferred to Hezbollah,” specifically mentioning that this includes transfers “through Beirut International Airport.”

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) targeted and hit three United States Navy destroyers in the Red Sea, which were sailing toward occupied Palestine to support the Israeli regime, the spokesperson for the YAF, Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced on Friday.

Saree read out the statement during a million-man march in the al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sanaa, announcing the second set of top-tier operations conducted by the YAF.
    Striking Tel Aviv, Aaskalan

He said the attack on the three American destroyers came in parallel with the Yemeni military’s long-range missile and drone attack on Israeli targets. At around 12:40 am (local time), sirens sounded across several districts in Tel Aviv, the heart of the Israeli regime.

Earlier, Saree announced that Yemeni forces fired the medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile, Palestine-2, at a target in Tel Aviv. The Yemeni Unmanned Air Force also fired a long-range Yafa-type one-way attack drone at a vital Israeli target in occupied Aaskalan to the south of Tel Aviv, in occupied Palestine.

Saree said the attack on US Navy assets came in support of the Resistance fighters and the people of Gaza and Lebanon, as well as in response to the American-British aggression on Yemen.

In total, 23 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and one-way attack drones were fired at the naval formation. The YAF’s Navy, Unammaned Air Force, and Rocket Force participated in the attack.

The spokesperson said that this is the most expansive Naval operation conducted by the Yemeni Armed Forces during “The Promised Victory Battle and Sacred Jihad, in support of the Al-Aqsa Flood and in response to the aggression.”

19.9.2024 - The Palestinian Health Ministry said Wednesday Dr. Ziad Mohammed al-Dalou, who was abducted by Israeli forces during its March raid on Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, has died in an Israeli jail. He’s the third doctor to die in Israeli custody since October 7 and one of at least 60 Palestinians who’ve since perished in Israeli prisons, which are rife with abuse and torture.

  • Were the exploding pagers in Lebanon part of a larger Israeli blunder? | Al Mayadeen English
    https://english.almayadeen.net/articles/opinion/were-the-exploding-pagers-in-lebanon-part-of-a-larger-israel

In essence, it appears that “Israel” had initially prepared to order the evacuation ahead of a planned military action on the 16th. At the same time, the pagers were programmed to detonate during the initial phase of the war, 24 hours later, to disrupt communication channels, and create confusion and disarray in the midst of war.

However, the overextended Israeli army that failed to prevent the release of the evacuation leaflets on May 16, when the war was likely delayed, also did not halt the premature detonation of the pagers on September 17. The last oversight, the second within 24 hours, may have resulted in a missed strategic opportunity for the Israeli army, and another blunder for the Israeli leadership.

The opinions mentioned in this article do not necessarily reflect the opinion of Al mayadeen [ni la mienne] , but rather express the opinion of its writer exclusively.

Preliminary reports indicate that hundreds of Lebanese citizens were injured after their portable pager communication devices detonated on Tuesday.

The cyber attack managed to hack the devices, with reports of injuries spreading across several villages in the Lebanese South, Bekaa, and Beirut’s southern suburb.

Lebanese security forces confirmed that specific types of wireless devices were targeted, with several sources alleging that an Israeli breach caused the devices to go off and subsequently explode.

The LSF urged civilians to clear the roads for ambulances to ensure the timely and safe transportation of casualties.

We have some more comments from military analyst Elijah Magnier on the simultaneous pager explosions in different parts of Lebanon.

This is a very sophisticated attack and normally, at this scale, it requires the collaboration of more than one entities.
If the Israeli intelligence managed to compromise the pagers that have been supplied to Hezbollah, this [does not exclude] that they have managed to access the supply by Iran, because Iran supplies Hezbollah in most of its equipment.
An operation of this scale needs the presence of high explosives, even in small quantity, and an awful long time to sit one every single pager and manually implement one to three grams of highly explosive material and yet conserve the functionality of the pager, the screen and all the electronics without all of this being affected.
That requires the work of more than one intelligence services and the break of the channel of supply.
That can also indicate that there is an explosive, because batteries don’t explode on their own in Beirut, in Bekaa Valley, in the south of Lebanon and in Syria and everywhere there is a pager at the same instant.
This is not something related to the malfunction of the pager but it is something that is implemented in it and exploded by a frequency, most likely a radio frequency.
In this case, we understand that the Israeli intelligence have placed this explosive with the support of a third country before they reached Hezbollah
This means that they have not only taken their time but they sat on this supply for a long time before it reached its final destination and
most probably the Iranians will be now examining all their products and equipment to make sure that nobody has tampered in what they have acquired.

Israel’s unprecedented and highly sophisticated security operation today in which almost 3000 people have been injured so far, is by all means a massive blow to Hizbullah. This is all more so the case given that Hizbullah has always credited its performance in the July War, in part, to its primitive telecom network which relied on pagers and a fiber optic “internal” line. By neutralising Israel’s technological superiority with “simplicity”, to borrow Nasrallah’s terms, Hizbullah prevented Israel from disrupting its command and control system. 1/

Today’s attack effectively negates this advantage. The question is: why did Israel choose to prematurely play this card outside the context of all-out war, where a disruption of this magnitude could have changed the course of the war. Israel surely knows that Hizbullah will now review and amend its entire communication protocols, which suggests that Israel has other aims which could well fall short of full war. 2/

The operation appears to have been designed as a major spectacle potentially serving dual purposes: to demoralise Hizbullah’s cadres and instil uncertainty while acting as a coercive deterrent aimed at altering their force positioning along the border. 3/

Israel appears to have developed a unique military-security paradigm in its war on Lebanon: its daily assassination campaign via drone warfare blurs the line between prolonged security measures and traditional warfare. Today’s attack consolidates this novel paradigm which acts more as a substitute for all-out conventional war. At least for the time being. 4/

Israel’s massive terrorist attack in Lebanon today, using mobile devices as weapons, besides opening a dangerous new chapter in global terrorism, and likely provoking a wider war in the region, also constitutes a grave breach of humanitarian law & a gross violation of human rights. The perpetrators must be held to account.

It also violates the human rights law prohibition of extrajudicial executions and the IHL prohibition of booby-traps designed to look like harmless portable objects or like something likely to attract civilians. And it violates the IHL requirements of distinction, proportionality, and precaution, as well as the prohibition on targeting civilians, in some of the cases.

“Customary international humanitarian law prohibits the use of booby traps – objects that civilians are likely to be attracted to or are associated with normal civilian daily use – precisely to avoid putting civilians at grave risk and produce the devastating scenes that continue to unfold across Lebanon today. The use of an explosive device whose exact location could not be reliably known would be unlawfully indiscriminate, using a means of attack that could not be directed at a specific military target and as a result would strike military targets and civilians without distinction. A prompt and impartial investigation into the attacks should be urgently conducted.”

      https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/sep/18/the-guardian-view-on-israels-booby-trap-war-and-unacceptable

In the second world war, guerrilla forces scattered large quantities of booby-trapped objects likely to be attractive to civilians. The idea was to cause widescale and indiscriminate death. The Japanese manufactured a tobacco pipe with a charge detonated by a spring-loaded striker. The Italians produced a headset that blew up when it was plugged in. More than half a century later, a global treaty came into force which “prohibited in all circumstances to use booby-traps or other devices in the form of apparently harmless portable objects that are specifically designed and constructed to contain explosive material”. Has anyone told Israel and its jubilant supporters that, as Brian Finucane of the International Crisis Group points out, it is a signatory to the protocol?

      https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/09/exploding-pagers-and-radios-terrifying-violation-international-law-say-un

“To the extent that international humanitarian law applies, at the time of the attacks there was no way of knowing who possessed each device and who was nearby,” the experts said. “Simultaneous attacks by thousands of devices would inevitably violate humanitarian law, by failing to verify each target, and distinguish between protected civilians and those who could potentially be attacked for taking a direct part in hostilities.

“Such attacks could constitute war crimes of murder, attacking civilians, and launching indiscriminate attacks, in addition to violating the right to life,” the experts said.

Humanitarian law additionally prohibits the use of booby-traps disguised as apparently harmless portable objects where specifically designed and constructed with explosives – and this could include a modified civilian pager, the experts said. A booby-trap is a device designed to kill or injure, that functions unexpectedly when a person performs an apparently safe act, such as answering a pager.

“It is also a war crime to commit violence intended to spread terror among civilians, including to intimidate or deter them from supporting an adversary,” the experts warned. “A climate of fear now pervades everyday life in Lebanon,” they said.

European security sources have reported to Al Mayadeen that the recent strikes by the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah that targeted the Glilot base, associated with ’Israel’s’ Unit 8200, and the Ein Shemer airbase have been substantially successful.

According to the sources, the attack, dubbed Operation Arbaeen, has resulted in significant casualties within the Israeli intelligence unit, with fatalities reaching 22 and 74 members reported injured.

The operation was launched in response to the assassination of martyred Commander Fouad Shokor, as confirmed by Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on August 25.

Signal was and remains very prominently used and promoted by dissidents and protesters backed by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). (Al Mayadeen English; Illustrated by Zeinab ElHajj)

On November 16th, Meredith Whittaker, president of Signal, published a detailed breakdown of the popular encrypted messaging app’s running costs for the very first time. The unprecedented disclosure’s motivation was simple - the platform is rapidly running out of money, and in dire need of donations to stay afloat. Unmentioned by Whittaker, this budget shortfall results in large part due to the US intelligence community, which lavishly financed Signal’s creation and maintenance over several years, severing its support for the app.

Never acknowledged in any serious way by the mainstream media, Signal’s origins as a US government asset are a matter of extensive public record, even if the scope and scale of the funding provided has until now been secret. The app, brainchild of shadowy tech guru ‘Moxie Marlinspike’ (real name Matthew Rosenfeld), was launched in 2013 by his now-defunct Open Whisper Systems (OWS). The company never published financial statements or disclosed the identities of its funders at any point during its operation.

Sums involved in developing, launching and running a messaging app used by countless people globally were nonetheless surely significant. The newly-published financial records indicate Signal’s operating costs for 2023 alone are $40 million, and projected to rise to $50 million by 2025. Rosenfeld boasted in 2018 that OWS “never [took] VC [venture capital] funding or sought investment” at any point, although mysteriously failed to mention millions were provided by the Open Technology Fund (OTF).

OTF was launched in 2012 as a pilot program of Radio Free Asia (RFA), an asset of US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which is funded by US Congress to the tune of over $1 billion annually. In August 2018, its then-CEO openly acknowledged the Agency’s “global priorities…reflect US national security and public diplomacy interests.”

RFA’s own origins harken back to 1948. That year, National Security Council Directive 10/2 officially authorised the then-newly created CIA to engage in operations targeted at countries behind the Iron Curtain, including propaganda, economic warfare, sabotage, subversion, and “assistance to underground resistance movements.” The station was a core component of this wider effort, along with Radio Free Europe, and Radio Liberation From Bolshevism. In 2007, a news item on the CIA’s website stated these “psychological warfare” initiatives were:

“One of the longest-running and successful covert action campaigns ever mounted by the United States.”

As we shall see, much the same could be said now of Signal.
    ‘Taking Down Governments’

The launch of the OTF followed the US State Department, then led by Hillary Clinton, adopting a policy known as “Internet Freedom”. Ostensibly, this was an effort to develop tools to circumvent restrictions on internet access and usage overseas. A 2011 New York Times investigation concluded the endeavor was in fact concerned with “[deploying] ‘shadow’ internet and mobile phone systems dissidents can use to undermine repressive governments.”

Among the resources developed under “Internet Freedom” were State Department-funded “stealth wireless networks,” enabling anti-regime activists “to communicate outside the reach of governments in countries like Iran, Syria and Libya.” Reinforcing this analysis, in February 2015 Jillian York, director of digital rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation’s “International Freedom of Expression” division and a member of OTF’s advisory board, stated that she “fundamentally” believed “Internet Freedom” was “at heart an agenda of regime change.”

A now-deleted entry on OTF’s website amply demonstrates Signal’s conception was precisely concerned with furthering this “agenda”. It notes the app was designed to counter “restrictive internet filtering by technical methods” and “repressive surveillance or monitoring of communication.” The Fund’s subsequent investment in OWS “allowed well over a billion mobile users to benefit from end-to-end encryption,” and “enabled the OWS team to continue providing Signal at no cost around the globe and adapt their operations for a growing user base.”

In other words, Signal gifted the CIA “well over a billion” potential insurrectionists, by providing them with a means to organize their activities away from the prying eyes of local authorities. It is surely no coincidence Rosenfeld previously created encrypted communications programs TextSecure and RedPhone, both of which were featured in a March 2013 Gizmodo guide, “Which Encryption Apps Are Strong Enough to Help You Take Down a Government?”.

Accordingly, Signal was and remains very prominently used and promoted by dissidents and protesters backed by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a US government agency explicitly created to do overtly what the CIA once did covertly. This was the case in Hong Kong, where Endowment funding serendipitously began flowing to opposition groups a year before Signal’s launch. In July 2020, it became the island’s most downloaded app, after the controversial National Security Law was passed.
    ‘Existing Techniques’

Washington was for some time enormously proud of its investment in Signal. A 2019 USAGM factsheet gave the app top billing in a list of “examples of tools supported by OTF.” It further boasted that “over two billion people use OTF-supported technology daily,” and “more than two-thirds of all mobile users globally have technology incubated by OTF on their device,” which begs the obvious question of why the Fund’s sponsorship of Signal ended.

One explanation is the app became too popular with Western citizens for the US intelligence community’s liking. In late January 2021, changes to WhatsApp’s privacy policy sent users scurrying for alternatives, and the mainstream media openly proposed Signal as a potential replacement. This was an extraordinary volte-face, given the same outlets had spent immediately preceding weeks aggressively parroting fraudulent US government talking points about the dire threat of encrypted messaging, following the January 6 capitol invasion.

While media stenographers may have at least temporarily changed their tune, however, the position of Western spies remains static. With little media comment, Britain’s Online Safety Act passed in October. It compels all digital platforms, including encrypted messaging apps, to scan any content shared by their users for child pornography - a noble requirement, one might argue. Yet, it is widely opposed by major tech firms, and security and privacy experts. They argue this cannot be done without undermining user privacy, and killing encryption.

To its credit, Signal is willing to exit Britain altogether rather than abide by the Online Safety Act’s terms. That the app is so good at helping users “to communicate outside the reach of governments” its original intelligence community supporters have now forsaken the project entirely, is a bitter irony. However, OTF continues to fund and promote a wide variety of “Internet Freedom” tools, which allegedly fulfill that same purpose.

Among them is anonymizing, “dark web” browser Tor, frequently recommended by privacy advocates in the same breath as Signal. First developed by the US Naval Research Laboratory in the mid-1990s, it quickly caught the attention of the Pentagon’s Defense and Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Since then, Tor has been almost entirely funded by US government entities. Strikingly, it features alongside Signal in the aforementioned USAGM factsheet.

Tor’s original purpose was to shield American spies from detection while deployed overseas. It was opened up to wider public use due to fears that if an enemy spy agency broke into the system, it could de-anonymize users - all of whom would be CIA operatives - and monitor their statements and movements. “Democratising” Tor was intended to spread the risk of exposure, thereby insulating US intelligence and military assets from exposure.

Documents leaked by Edward Snowden reveal US and British intelligence agencies devote considerable time and resources to de-anonymizing Tor users. Simultaneously though, they go to great lengths to ensure people aren’t discouraged from using the browser. One file - titled “Tor: Overview of Existing Techniques” - reveals GCHQ and the NSA actively attempt to direct traffic toward servers they operate, attack other privacy software used by Tor visitors, and even undertake efforts to influence Tor’s future development.

This is understandable, given Tor - along with many other “Internet Freedom” tools championed by OTF - congregates anyone and everyone with something to hide on a single network, to which Western spying agencies have ready back-door access. Surveilling user activities and monitoring their conversations is thus made all the easier. Now, recall how “two-thirds of all mobile users globally have technology incubated by OTF on their device”?

  • Gaza’s polio outbreak will not spare Israelis : Foreign Policy | Al Mayadeen English
    https://english.almayadeen.net/news/health/gaza-s-polio-outbreak-will-not-spare-israelis--foreign-polic

At the beginning of August, Gaza’s Health Ministry declared a polio virus epidemic along the Strip, linked with “Israel’s” ongoing genocide. Essentially, the spread of the disease is more susceptible due to the destruction of healthcare and public health infrastructure by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

In a recent analysis report, Foreign Policy stated that the poliovirus outbreak will not only affect Gazans but will also extend to infecting hundreds of thousands of Israelis.

The polio virus is a life-threatening disease characterized by the paralysis of limbs and, in some cases, lungs. Polio is an incurable, contagious disease that enables a single individual to infect several hundreds of others simultaneously through silent transmission.

Although the disease has dissipated in developed countries, it poses a risk for the Israeli regime due to its ultra-Orthodox, or Haredim, population that is generally opposed to vaccinations, leaving around 175,000 children vulnerable to the illness.

The Haredim make up 17% of Israeli Jews and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs their support to maintain his power. Essentially, his government has exempted the group from immunization programs against various vaccine-preventable ailments and viruses, including polio, COVID-19, and influenza, despite their threat to domestic and global health.

Vaccination exemptions and Netanyahu’s refusal to implement a permanent ceasefire to end the occupation’s ongoing aggression in Gaza have put “Israel” at risk of contracting polio.
Issues with the three-day humanitarian pause, vaccination campaigns

The Israeli occupation (IOF) and Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas have agreed to three separate, localized three-day ceasefires in the Gaza Strip to enable the immunization of around 640,000 children against polio, WHO official Rik Peeperkorn announced on Thursday.

Despite the temporary halt on Israeli aggression to carry out vaccination campaigns, Foreign Policy stated that it is unlikely parents would risk bringing their children to the designated vaccination sites while the occupation continues to carry out its genocide in other areas in Gaza. Additionally, the aggression prevents healthcare workers in Gaza’s displaced population from obtaining the necessary vaccinations to combat the outbreak.

Shortly after the detection of the poliovirus in Gaza’s sewers, the Israeli government launched a vaccination campaign for IOF soldiers returning from the Strip. However, despite these optional shots protecting some soldiers from contracting the virus, this did not prevent them from spreading the disease in “Israel,” turning them into carriers of the deadly, contagious disease.

Foreign Policy speculated that a potential polio outbreak in “Israel” may provide Netanyahu with a strong incentive to establish prolonged humanitarian pauses to carry out mass vaccination initiatives that may lead to a permanent ceasefire.

    • The Israeli occupation (IOF) and Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas have agreed to three separate, localized three-day ceasefires in the Gaza Strip to enable the immunization of around 640,000 children against polio, WHO official Rik Peeperkorn announced on Thursday.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported that the Israeli occupation has escalated its practice of withholding the bodies of Palestinian martyrs since launching its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people on October 7, 2023.

In a statement marking the Palestinian National Day for the Recovery of Palestinian and Other Arab War Victims’ Bodies and the Disclosure of the Fate of the Missing, observed on August 27, the PPS revealed that “Israel” has withheld 149 bodies over the past 11 months, excluding the bodies of the martyrs from the Gaza Strip.

It also emphasized that the current number of withheld bodies “represents more than half of those withheld since 2015.”

The PPS estimated that the number of martyrs’ bodies from Gaza being held by “Israel” is in the hundreds, though the Israeli occupation entity has yet to release official figures.

The Israeli occupation military returned the bodies of 89 Palestinian martyrs it abducted amid the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, confirmed the Gaza Government Media Office on Monday, emphasizing that the occupation forces delivered the remains of the martyrs as skeletons and decomposed bodies.

In a statement, the Media Office explained that the occupation delivered the bodies of these martyrs in only 35 shrouds, with 13 bodies placed in one shroud, 22 bodies in another, and the remaining martyrs’ remains scattered in several other shrouds.

According to the statement, the Israeli occupation forces, throughout 304 days of the genocide, abducted more than 2,000 bodies of martyrs and deceased Palestinians from dozens of cemeteries in the Gaza Strip provinces, which they bulldozed and destroyed with military machinery.

Civil Defense Director Yamen Abu Suleiman told AFP that Israeli occupation authorities did not provide any information about the bodies, including their names or where they were found or taken from.

“We do not know if they are martyrs (killed in Gaza) or prisoners from (Israel’s) jails”, he added.

The Media Office recalled that the Israeli occupation repeated this crime multiple times during the genocide, including previously exhuming graves in Khan Younis, Jabalia, and the al-Tuffah neighborhood, and abducting some martyrs’ bodies.

  • Foreign Policy: ’Israel’s’ existential fears exacerbate its aggression | Al Mayadeen English
    https://english.almayadeen.net/news/Arts&Culture/foreign-policy---israel-s--existential-fears-exacerbate-its

    Résumé utile.

“Israel”, as it always has taken an aggressive military stance towards its enemies, has become more lethal in the last ten months, according to the American journal Foreign Policy, which argues that the reasons for this go beyond what “Israel’s” harshest critics say in terms of destroying the last vestiges of Palestinian nationalism and committing genocide against the Palestinians, emphasizing that the real explanation for this increased aggression is more complex.

Foreign Policy pointed out that the Israeli occupation felt that their existence was no longer at risk after 1967, and this developed with the involvement of Arab countries in the project of normalization and recognition of the existence of “Israel”, and was accompanied by economic growth and increased foreign investment.

One of the practical effects of this view, according to Foreign Policy, was the decrease in defense spending in the early 1990s, and “Israel’s” abandonment of the first of the three pillars of its “defense” strategy, “victory in war,” allowing the second pillar, “deterrence,” to erode, and its excessive reliance on the third pillar alone, “intelligence.”

The journal recognized that “Israel’s” wars with unconventional forces have never ended in a decisive victory, since the 1980s. That said, its ability to deter its enemies has diminished, as evidenced by Hamas’s willingness to fight a repeated war against “Israel” since 2008, and instead of decisive victory and effective deterrence, “Israel” has become increasingly reliant on “defensive measures” such as walls, fences, and high-tech early warning systems.

“Israel” paid a heavy price for these policies on October 7, 2023, as Iran and its allies realized the magnitude of the occupation’s failure, both intelligenceally and organizationally.

The journal explained this trajectory, starting with Hezbollah launching attacks across the northern border just one day after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and the firing of Yemeni missiles and drones at shipping vessels in the Red Sea and at “Israel” itself, until last April when Iran for the first time launched a direct attack with missiles and drones against “Israel”.

The journal argued that the “total victory” promised by Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is unlikely to be achieved at all against Hamas, let alone Hezbollah or Iran, pointing out that restoring “Israel’s” ability to deter is a more realistic goal, but it is not a pain-free goal either, in the face of organizations that are ideologically committed to eliminating Israel from existence, it is not enough to “demonstrate effective defensive capabilities.”

Moreover, Foreign Policy revealed that “Israel’s” recent actions are dangerous and disproportionate for policymakers and public opinion in the United States and Europe, who cannot deny that it risks igniting a regional war, but they realize that it does not have very good options.

The journal recalled that “Israel” is small “in terms of population, geography, and economy, and cannot afford to be surprised, fight long wars, or maintain a tight defensive posture indefinitely,” noting that it is fully aware that “for every new friend it has in the region, it has a stubborn enemy.”

The journal further indicated that the psychological impact of the October 7 operation was profound for Israeli settlers and a tangible reminder that the threat to “Israel’s” existence is not just empty talk by its enemies and the consequences of a brief moment of failure to secure the border were dire.

Months of bombarding the North with Hezbollah rockets, drones, and anti-tank missiles, in addition to Iranian missile strikes, gave the Israeli occupation an idea of “how the end might come,” Foreign Policy added.

The Israeli occupation forces arrested al-Aqsa Mosque speaker Sheikh Ekrima Sabri from his home in the Sawaneh neighborhood of the city of al-Tur east of occupied al-Quds.

Sheikh Sabri was arrested because he eulogized Hamas politburo chief martyr Ismail Haniyeh days after he was assassinated by the Israeli occupation forces.

Sheikh Sabri eulogized Haniyeh, speaking about the virtues of martyrs and the devout. The sermon included collective chants of “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) from the worshippers. Subsequently, absentee prayers were performed for Haniyeh’s soul, his companions, and all martyrs.

In his Friday sermon, Sheikh Sabri stated, “The people of al-Quds and its surroundings, from the pulpit of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, regard Ismail Haniyeh as a martyr before God. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to have mercy on him and grant him the highest place in Paradise.”

In response, Israeli police ordered an investigation into Sheikh Sabri.

“Following the chants of one of the preachers during the noon prayer at the al-Haram al-Sharif today, the police have begun examining whether there is a connection to incitement in coordination with the relevant authorities and will act accordingly based on the findings,” the Israeli occupation said.

Since October 7, the so-called escalation ladder has involved very significant restraint from Hezbollah. All of the data on the military struggle show first that the Zionists have expended much greater firepower and confined themselves to a far wider geographical area, not to mention extensively targeting civilians. Hezbollah has by contrast focused almost exclusively on military targets and within a 5km distance of the border.
The strategy of Hezbollah has been to systematically destroy the Zionists’ vast array of espionage equipment rendering the occupation forces blind and making it much easier for Hezbollah (or others) to target the north and other areas of the interior of the occupied lands.

Israeli media reported on Friday that the head of the Prisoners of War and Missing Persons Center, Nitzan Alon, and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar “do not intend to travel to Qatar next week” to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

The military affairs commentator for Israeli Channel 12, Nir Dvori, said that both senior officials believe that “traveling is pointless” because Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “wants to introduce changes to the deal that Hamas will not accept. Therefore, only Mossad chief Yossi Cohen will travel.”

Sources told Reuters that the occupation entity is seeking to introduce modifications that would complicate the negotiations. These modifications involve inspecting forcibly displaced people as they return to northern areas and controlling the border with Egypt (Philadelphia Axis), among other issues.

Furthermore, citing sources familiar with the negotiations, Dvori said: “We are losing momentum. The opportunity for the deal is passing. Netanyahu is acting as if he has abandoned the hostages. We are on the way to missing the deal.”

The Israeli security and military establishments believe that if a deal to return the captives is not reached now, it “will lead to the outbreak of war in the north at a time that is not suitable for Israel,” he continued.

  • Terrified by Hamas red triangle, German House votes on banning symbol | Al Mayadeen English

    On atteint des sommets !

Germany’s House of Representatives voted in favor of banning the use of the red inverted triangle used by the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, in its videos, the ASB Zeitung news website reported on Thursday.

The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) had filed an urgent motion to impose a ban on the triangle used by Hamas as a symbol to mark their targets, which secured a majority in the German parliament’s plenary session.

Burkard Dregger, spokesperson for the CDU faction’s interior policy, stated that the goal is to have the Berlin Administrative Office prohibit the use of the symbol.

“Secondly, the federal government should extend the Hamas ban to include the prohibition of the Hamas triangle,” Dregger added.

Martin Matz from the SPD said that Hamas uses the symbol to mark people as targets, claiming that the prohibition of the triangle’s use is justified for good reasons. However, he failed to mention that the targets displayed in the Palestinian Resistance group’s videos only include Israeli soldiers and military personnel and vehicles.
