Theme: ‘Politics, Spaces, Imaginations’
Globalised mobilities today remind us of the inextricable relationship between politics and space, in which bodies and territories are both politically and spatially bordered through multiple technologies. Politics cannot be conceived of as a-spatial and nor can space be understood as a-political. Rather, global politics constitute a series of politico-spatialisation processes.
This two day conference seeks to open up debates on these processes that have taken place both contemporarily and historically, locally and globally, and physically and virtually, in order to bring new insights into understanding space and politics. We invite multidisciplinary contributions from PhD students and researchers whose work addresses the above issues in relation to themes such as borders and bordering practices, migration, citizenship, security, and sovereignty.
