The authorities of Baku, a capital city of Azerbaijan, plan to demolish Khrushchev-era apartment blocks in future, the Director of Baku State Design Institute Ilgar Isbatov said on Thursday.

“Threatening lives and causing serious damage to the appearance of the city Khrushchev-era apartment blocks can be demolished in future,” Ilgar Isbatov told reporters.

According to him, currently, in Baku, the demolition of 1-2-storey houses are planned to be demolished in the first place. “After a time, Khrushchev-era apartment blocks can be demolished as well, but first it is necessary to start with low-storey buildings,” he stressed.
