Georgia has sent all relevant documents regarding ex-Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili, who is wanted by Georgia’s law-enforcement bodies and INPERPOL’s red notice, to Ukraine and now the latter needs to decide whether or not to transfer him to Georgia.

Georgia’s Deputy Interior Minister Archil Talakvadze talked about Adeishvili’s staying in Ukraine with local journalists today.

He said Georgia respected Ukraine as a sovereign state and was now waiting for Ukraine to make an independent decision.

"We cannot put any pressure on Ukraine regarding this issue,” he said, adding Georgia would respect Ukraine’s decision whatever it would be.

Adeishvili who was charged in absentia in Georgia for the abuse of power with the use of violence, inhumane treatment, provoking a crime and fabricating evidence, was said to be in Ukraine and participate in the consultations about the ways of the fight against corruption. This information was confirmed by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Georgia.
