Migrants : la Bulgarie sécurise sa frontière avec la Grèce
Le premier ministre bulgare a annoncé samedi 5 mars le déploiement de plus de quatre cents hommes venant des rangs de l’armée, de la police et de la gendarmerie, à la frontière avec la Grèce. En sus, « quelque cinq cents hommes supplémentaires peuvent être mobilisés en quelques heures à la frontière, en cas de besoin », en cas de pression migratoire accrue, a-t-il ajouté.

Migration : Bulgaria may send troops to Turkey border
Bulgaria plans to station 600 troops on its border with Turkey to quell any potential flow of migrants. Bulgaria’s defense minister said the EU’s failure to stop migrants crossing the Mediterranean justified the move.

The parliament of #Bulgaria voted already in February 2016 to let the army assist the Bulgarian #borderpolice in guarding the borders. The #army was already present in some trainings, visible in the border region and since 2013 it helped in constructing the #fence.

The Bulgarian parliament has unanimously voted in favour of authorising the army to police the nation’s borders and keep refugee flows under control.
On Thursday, all 137 members attending the vote backed the measure, which allows the government to deploy soldiers to the Turkish border with police authority.
