Foreign fighters flow to Syria
An estimated 15,000 militants from at least 80 nations are believed to have entered Syria to help overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad according the CIA and studies by ISCR and The Soufan Group. Many of these fighters are believed to have joined units that are now part of the Islamic State. Western officals are concerned about what these individuals may do upon returning to their native countries.

More than 500 deaths had been caused by the conflict in Gaza and Israel as of July 21. According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, more than 25 percent of Palestinians killed have been children.

C’est sans compter les blessés, la destruction massive d’infrastructures vitales et d’habitations civiles, le stress inouï subi par les enfants.
Et les chiffres sont malheureusement déjà dépassés.
One child has been killed in Gaza every hour for the
past two days.

Ordinary Internet users, American and non-American alike, far outnumber legally targeted foreigners in the communications intercepted by the National Security Agency from U.S. digital networks, according to a four-month investigation by The Washington Post.
Nine of 10 account holders found in a large cache of intercepted conversations, which former #NSA contractor Edward #Snowden provided in full to The Post, were not the intended #surveillance targets but were caught in a net the agency had cast for somebody else.

The Iraqi government has lost control of its third-largest city to Al Qaeda-inspired insurgents, a crushing defeat for not only Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s security policies but for Iraqi politics as a whole.
The scale of the catastrophe, as troops loyal to Mr. Maliki flood north and troops controlled by the Kurdish Regional Government rush west and south, can’t be overstated. Chicago is the United States’ third-largest city. Munich is Germany’s. Osaka is Japan’s.
