Don’t condemn the youth
They are the fruit of our society. They reflect the society into which they were born and grew up. The society that gave them the parameters to orient themselves and live by.
Who are the role models in our society? Politicians who don’t make any secret of their mafiose behaviour. Who kill, torture and maim hundreds of thousands of civilians for material and political profit.
Bankers who suck whole countries dry and give themselves huge bonuses. Who play with economies like a yo-yo.
Who is to blame? It us, who have become domesticated like sheep and cows, accepting our capitivity and impotence. Who let others dictate to and mesmerise us. Who parrot opinions we have read in the newspapers or have heard on the tv and radio.
We call ourselves adults, yet we behave and think like children. We are stunted and we are slaves.
Chief Sitting Bull is reputed to have said that the trouble with us “civilised” people is that we cannot feel the breeze on our cheeks, we cannot smell the grass of the prairies.
We are programmed to want, to desire and regard happiness as that fleeting moment when we are satisfying our desires instead of regarding happiness as being in peace without them.
Open your eyes. Is not looting precisely what we are doing in the Middle East and Central Asia? Yes. Our youth have learnt well from their rulers. The Prime Minister and Queen should give them medals for manifesting the same spirit which created the British Empire, The United States and the current empire.
Loot and plunder! If it’s good enough for our politicians, bankers, CEO’s and rulers, why should we complain when our youth reflect the same spirit?
