Hey Siri! Can you help me with my business?Quite recently I got into a discussion with my marketing manager, a tall and burly mid-age man; Let’s call him Steve.Steve and I got into a discussion on the subject of how AI in general, is transforming the way business is conducted. This man, a well-educated gentleman, only partially agreed with my perspective,He added,“I acknowledge technology has made quite an impact, but this impact is austerely restricted. My domain of work, or for that matter most small businesses haven’t observed any major transformation even after the recent developments in AI,”He continued,“It is predominantly large organizations that have profited from new-age technologies like AI and Machine learning.”This got me wondering…Is the AI use-case still confined to big & (...)

Super Bowl ? More like Super Bored, ammaright?I’m not American. As such, I have a hard time fathoming the cultural and social importance of the Superbowl, even if I can appreciate the fan’s fervor and the ever-so-entertaining pageantry taking place every year. It is my understanding that this year’s game between the Patriots and the Rams was a particularly dull affair, and that some Chipotle-looking artist took his shirt off and that it was a whole thing. All the memes pages are talking about it. Also the Spongebob Pants part of the Internet is rioting. Apart from that, there is little to be said about the main events which are the game and the half-time show. The adverts, on the other hand, have always been my go-to staple to better assess the mood the largest economy of the world finds (...)

It checks pizza readiness, searches for criminals and analyzes the origin of the Big Bang. In this article, we will talk about a much more everyday use case: how to automate document flow and reduce the processing time to a few seconds and why, if you do not do it, the growth of almost any company may stop.OCR as part of RPA — what’s that? With the increase of paperwork — endless documents preparation, contracts, fillings, agreements, and forms, the costs for back-office grow, too. A Short Essay On Voice SearchAs part of the team at WordLift, I had a privileged view of how the landscape of search and voice is evolving. Also, on FourWeekMBA I’ve experimented in the last two years with Google’s advanced features (carousels, knowledge panels and featured snippets) which give us — I argue — an important overview of how voice search might look like. In addition, I’ve already talked about voice search and why I think is critical to Google future business strategy.Let me start by a couple of moves Google has made which show — I argue — how much the company is betting on voice search. For instance, in 2018, Google invested in San Diego-based startup, KaiOS.This is a company that created an operating system for feature phones (the dumb brother of a smartphone). A Sweaty Costume“Yes ma’am, Roll-Oh get,” the robot says, as it goes to the kitchen to prepare dinner, opening a can of food and blowing fire to a candle.Roll-Oh walks clumsily, suspiciously like a man in an uncomfortable costume. Nonetheless, it ably frees the domestic housewife of all her daily chores, at the simple press of a button. This was the promise of robotics, demonstrated in the 1940 short film “Leave it to Roll-Oh”, presented at the New York World’s Fair. Mechanical robotics already automate so much of our lives, the film argues, that it will be only a matter of time before we can expect personal, four-limbed metal people as ready-made servants: watering our plants, greeting our mailman, helping cook dinner.▻https://medium.com/media/2b35680a6b90440fcb79923b0ddc1c8f/hrefAt the time, (...)

Calling a car, “self-driving,” may be the K-car of autonomous vehicle branding, according to a studyTech experts are trying to convince people that self-driving cars are the next big thing in transportation. But, for consumers, cars labeled “self-driving,” or “autonomous,” are about as exciting as a long, lonely, coffee-less stretch of Midwestern interstate.According to a Penn State study that appeared in Science Communications, calling a car, “self-driving,” actually made people less excited about the vehicle. Terms like “autonomous” and “driverless” didn’t do much for the consumers, either. Those terms could even add to consumer confusion about the vehicles, the researchers found. The term, “driverless vehicle,” for example, made some study participants think there was no driver in the car but not (...)

Well, the first augmented reality system took birth in 1992. Louis Rosenburg from the USAF Armstrong’s Research Lab developed what Virtual Fixtures which placed information atop physical objects. The idea was to improve worker efficiency by supplying information readily. Have you ever imagined yourself as a cartoon character? Well, now this is more than real. We are a team of 20 engineers and art designers who have developed a machine learning technology that morphs human faces with animated characters. The process starts by constructing a user’s 3D face model from just a single selfie shot. Importantly, our technology even works with older, regular smartphone cameras. With this single photo, our neural network builds a 3D mesh of the user’s head that looks like this:The neural network regresses a 3D model from a 2D photoNext, 3 other neural networks swing into action. Late 2018 I participated in kaggle’s “Quick, Draw! Doodle Recognition Challenge”.For those of you who are unaware, below is a short description of this game:“Quick, Draw!” was released as an experimental game to educate the public in a playful way about how AI works. The game prompts users to draw an image depicting a certain category, such as ”banana,” “table,” etc. As part of this competition, a subset of more than 1B drawings was released which had 340 labels. The competitors needed to improve the existing AI algorithm which distinguishes whether a user has correctly been able to draw what was asked for. For each test image, the need was to predict the three most probable classes the doodle might belong to.key_id,word9000003627287624,The_Eiffel_Tower airplane (...)

Superalgos, Part One: The Trading SingularityOne day in the future, a trading intelligence capable of outperforming every other entity at the markets will emerge. Both humans and current #algorithms will be surpassed by Superalgos.By Luis Molina & Julian MolinaImage © GarryKillian, Shutterstock.AI is a hot topic these days.Elon Musk is still worried about the risks of a Technological Singularity happening as a result of advances in AI.You know, that moment in time when an Artificial Intelligence starts improving itself 24/7, non-stop, producing an exponential growth of intelligence that — in a short period of time — would render the most clever people on earth stupid.Such worries, of course, are justified…We know what happens when a species becomes so much more intelligent: the rest end up in (...)

Change is the only constantFirst and foremost, let me get the lazy predictions out of the way:2019 will begin in early January. Natural disasters will occur: forest fires, global warming, coral reefs dying, hurricanes, flooding, and garbage islands will continue to make headlines. We will all say “yeah we should get on that”. Then keep doing nothing. At least one cancerous trend will take the world by storm. There will be some kind of ridiculous political shenanigans which makes the world collectively even more frustrated, and it will be forgotten in six months. Few school shootings. Handful of dead celebrities, some unexpectedly. People will hope 2020 will be better. Apple will release a new iPhone, because money. Samsung will release a new Galaxy, because money. Some new kid will become (...)
