      https://asile.ch/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Capture-d%E2%80%99ecran-2020-04-06-a-10.59.51.png

The internet as we know it is broken. Google and Facebook have created data silos in which we have lost control over our information. You’ve heard that story a dozen times. But according to the people working on Web 3.0 they are able to fix all of that.Web 3.0 was proposed as the next evolutionary stage the internet might enter. In the early 90ies the first internet browser marks the beginning of the world wide web. Back then people were only able to access static websites without any interactive content — pretty boring from today’s perspective. However, people would often self host the data they are sharing and thus have more control about what they share with whom. The downside was that this made publishing content on the internet only accessible to those who possessed the right (...)

It’s possible, but it entails jumping through a few hoops to get React build system going, and sometimes that just may not be desirable. The Web Component standard, while not as versatile as React, at least (...)

Overview of how does #css works behind the scenes?

FrontamentalsLet’s start by understanding what actually happens to our CSS code when we load up a web page in a browser. When a browser starts to load the initial #html file, it takes the loaded HTML code and parses it, which means that it will decode the code line by line. By this process, the browser builds the so-called DOM (Document Object Modal) which describes the entire web document in a tree with parent, children and sibling elements.HTML ParsingAs the browser parses the HTML, it also finds the stylesheets included in the HTML head and just like HTML, CSS is also parsed. But the parsing of CSS bit more complex. There are two main steps that are performed during the CSS parsing phase :1. Conflicting CSS declarations are resolved (also known a cascading)2. Process final CSS values (for (...)

This replaced the core editor in CodeSandbox with VSCode, which gave us keybindings, user snippets, commands, editor grid view and much more from VSCode.Since October we’ve been fixing a bunch of bugs and improved the general integration. From now on we’ll run VSCode as the only editor in CodeSandbox, and with that, we decided to give the editor a new look! Here’s what was added with the new (...)
