    Sep 23, 2022 – – IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/israeli-soldiers-kill-a-palestinian-near-ramallah-7

On Thursday evening, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian in Modi’in Illit illegal colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands west of Ramallah, in the central part of the occupied West Bank.

The slain Palestinian has been identified as Mohammad Osama Abu Jom’a, 23, from the at-Tour town in occupied Jerusalem.

Israeli sources claimed that the Palestinian mildly injured eight Israeli colonizers after he allegedly “lunged at a car, tried to open its doors and attacked the Israelis with a knife and pepper spray.”

They alleged that two “Israelis were stabbed and suffered light wounds, and six were maced with pepper spray before an off-duty police officer who happened to be in the area fatally shot the Palestinian.”

Israeli medical sources said the injured Israelis were all treated by medics at the scene due to their mild wounds.
    (...)
The family of the slain Palestinian denied the Israeli allegations and said that Mohammad and one of his relatives worked at the colony and added that an argument broke out between Mohammad and his employer before a colonizer used pepper spray, leading to a scuffle and the subsequent fatal shooting.

They added that no knife or sharp objects were involved, and that Mohammad’s life could have been spared if the off-duty officer in plain clothes did not elect to use his firearm and used other means to defuse the situation.

  • German broadcaster DW’s sacking of Palestinian journalist was unlawful, court rules
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/german-broadcaster-dw-s-sacking-of-palestinian-journalist-was-unlawful-court-rules/2678317

A labor court in Berlin has ruled that the dismissal of Palestinian-Jordanian journalist Farah Maraqa by Germany’s state broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) on charges of anti-Semitism was not legally justified.

Maraqa’s lawyer hailed the court’s judgment on Monday and called on DW to issue a public apology and reinstate Maraqa.

“The court ruled totally in our favour in the case of the unlawful dismissal of Farah. It held that Deutsche Welle is obliged to reinstate her, so Farah is now entitle to return to her work,” Hauke Rinsdorf said in an e-mailed statement to Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

"It’s not just a relief for Farah in the difficult situation, Deutsche Welle brought her into, but also a proof for the strength of the rule of law,” he stressed.

Rinsdorf criticized Deutsche Welle for making false accusations against the journalist and damaging her reputation.

“Now we have the court’s decision which speaks for itself. One may see this as an important step to restore Farah’s professional reputation as a journalist,” he said.

DW fired several journalists from its Arabic service following a two-month internal investigation into allegations of anti-Semitism.

However, a separate investigation conducted by Euro-Med Monitor found that Maraqa’s articles in question had been taken out of context and that the inquiry itself contained several instances of embracing a pro-Israeli narrative against Palestinians.

In July, a former colleague of Maraqa, Maram Salem, won her case against DW for unlawful termination.

A court then ruled that Salem’s dismissal was illegal, and said her Facebook posts were not anti-Semitic.

DW has long been criticized for biased coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

But management at Deutsche Welle has argued that Germany bears special responsibility for the country, due to Nazi crimes committed against Jews during World War II.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers fired several live rounds at the young man from a close range, even after he fell to the ground.

They added that the soldiers also fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at Palestinians who tried to reach him.

The soldiers then called for an Israeli ambulance that arrived later while he continued to bleed and moved the Palestinian, Fadi Mohammad Fayez Ghattas, 19, to a hospital in occupied Jerusalem, where he was officially pronounced dead.

It is worth mentioning that Fadi is from the Deheishe refugee camp, south of Bethlehem city, in the West Bank.
The Israeli occupation army claimed the young stabbed and moderately injured a soldier near Kiryat Arba’ colony before another soldier opened fire and “neutralized him.”
Israeli Paramedics and army medical personnel provided treatment to the wounded soldiers before moving him to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. They said the soldier was fully conscious.

The army alleged that, according to its initial investigation, Fadi got out of a car and walked towards the soldiers before approaching one of them and stabbing him in the neck.

After the fatal shooting, dozens of Palestinians marched in the area, chanting against the illegal Israeli occupation, its colonies, and escalating Israeli violations.

  • Seriously Injured Palestinian Dies From His Wounds
    Aug 23, 2022 – – IMEMC News
    https://imemc.org/article/seriously-injured-palestinian-dies-from-his-wounds-2

On Tuesday dawn, the Palestinian Health Ministry said a young man, who was shot and seriously injured two weeks earlier in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, had succumbed to his wounds.

The Health Ministry officially identified the young man as Mohammad Marzouq Arayshy, 25, and said the young man remained in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit

The funeral procession started in front of Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, before the Palestinians marched to Nablus’s Old City to his home, before heading to the Shuhada graveyard.

It is worth mentioning that Mohammad was seriously injured on August 9th, 2022, when the Israeli army initiated a massive offensive into Nablus, killing three Palestinians and wounding at least 40.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army fired many live rounds at Palestinian ambulances, prevented many medics from entering the areas it was invading, and later published a propaganda picture claiming the ambulance “was being used to shelter those throwing stones at the soldiers.”

However, a video from the scene shows the medics and a few Palestinians trying to get the seriously wounded young man into the ambulance so that it can speed up to the hospital.

Due to ongoing protests, the medics loaded the seriously wounded Palestinian as fast as possible, and the soldiers were still firing at the protesters.
